Legoland or Sea World?

@Mrs Green Grass: My problem with this is that actions speak louder than words, and Sea World's actions do not match up with the stuff that they're saying in interviews like this! Here's a great piece by someone who has been observing the behind the scenes stuff and seen how things have gone since the incident with Tilikum at Sea World - and it's awful. http://theorcaproject.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/seeing-is-believing-tilikums-lonely-life-after-dawn/

@Alivoo01: I agree. At least in Chicago I think the aquarium is more fun than legoland.

@Mrs Green Grass: It's the separating of the moms and calves that I have the biggest problem with. In the wild orca calves live with their mothers their entire lives. It breaks my heart that Sea World splits them up. When it talked about the effects that this has on the mothers in the documentary I bawled.

I'd go to Legoland since they both have an amusement park and small aquarium. My DS (3 years old) loved it since he was tall enough to ride most of the rides. Your daughter may be able to ride some of the rides, but can also go to the aquarium, as well as see the lego mini city creations.

I saw Blackfish and went to SeaWorld as a kid and I honestly don't think its worth it. I only remember touching a starfish briefly and vaguely remember the Shamu show. Given how terrible the conditions are for the whales vs. my memories/enjoyment as a kid, it just doesn't make sense to me personally.

I have some issues with zoos too, but I think the San Diego Zoo is probably a lot more fun than SeaWorld and everyone I know had a BLAST at Legoland.

Also, just because I think its great, my cousin has a son with a ton of food-based allergies and the Legoland had no problem whatsoever with her dragging a cooler into the park so he could be happy and comfortable for the several days they spent there.

From my son's perspective: He enjoyed Legoland more when he was younger, but appreciated* Sea World more when he was older.

    * Meaning he could go on all the rides and sit through the animal shows/attractions.

I have never been to LEGOLAND but I have been to SeaWorld. I was extremely disappointed. The shows were all about people and less of the animals. At the dolphin show, I heard a kid yell out "when are we going to see the dolphins".
