@Mrs. Cowgirl: I think I was already old when all those things were going on, because I thought they were too "kiddish" back then (except Cobain). God I'm old!

Did anyone have a TV that would go out of alignment (I think it was the vertical hold) that they had to "tune in" in the back. Ugh, we'd take turns about who would get up and do it. Our TV was so old! My parents got it for their wedding and we were still using it 20+ years later.

I saw a picture of a cassette tape and a pencil next to it and the caption said something like "Kids these days don't understand the connection between these two items".

Calling a radio station to request to hear your favorite song, a busy signal when calling someone, answering the phone without knowing who is calling, buying several disposable camers before a big event, and waiting a year for the movie you love to come out on VHS!

1) Having siblings evesdropping in on landline phone conversations
2) Knowing what a phone card is
3) Picking out a movie at the movie store
4) Writing a check /balance a checkbook

What it's like to try and convince your parents that an answering machine is really important and useful...

@jessiejo17: totally forgot about listening in on a landline call! Or two people answering on different phones and saying "hang up! I got it!"
