Oh my goodness. I just watched the latest episode. I'm guessing its the season finale? Matthew dies! I'm so upset. Mary just had a baby and they were soooooo happy. Why they'd have to kill him off?!
What are your thoughts? Where do you think next season will head?

I was upset with the end. It will be interesting to see what season 4 brings. Or if the missing/dead/titanic cousin makes a comeback.

I was shocked at this ending! I read online that the actor who plays Matthew chose not to renew his contract because he didnt like where the character was headed. I thought that was strange, because I felt the opposite about his character.
I would love to see Edith happy, and I adore Anna and Bates!

@amreis: I read that too, that he didn't like some of his storylines (the example they gave was his suddenly cured paralysis). I think he just likes his new fame in the US and wants to capitalize on it.
@mrskc: I read in Entertainment Weekly that season 4 will revolve around "Mary rebuilding her life" and supposedly they're casting a new love interest.

I was so bummed when I watched it! He was so happy. I hate that we have to wait an entire year for season 4!

Even though I hated Edith in the first season, I really like her now. I hope she continues to become a "modern woman".

Late to the party. Catching up on DA episodes now. Just saw that they killed off Matthew! Why are they keep killing people? With Sybil's death and now Matthew?!?
I have season 4 on DVD and watched the first episode already. Just so bummed that Matthew is gone.

@bluestriped bee: I think both of the actors decided to pursue other roles, which is why Julian Fellowes decided to kill them off 
I LOVED Sybil and Matthew! But like @T.H.O.U.: said, this past season was still interesting without them.

@HabesBabe: Yeah, after Sybil's death, I did a search and saw that she didn't want to be on the show anymore. Then I found a similar article after they killed off Matthew. Makes sense now, but not while I was watching the show.
