This thanksgiving hubby and his bff are doing all the turkey day cooking. I've been super sick this pregnancy and really appreciate the stepping up.
However, I couldn't imagine not doing anything, so I'm going to do the desserts. I would love to do a pie bar, but don't want to make your standard pies.
What's your favorite non-traditional pie? A recipe would also be awesome

I made an awesome pecan pumpkin pie one year (and I am not a fan of either pie individually), but I cannot for the anywhere and my googling does not bring up anything that resembles it.

Is apple crumble traditional? I made one for DH's birthday and it was really well received! The secret was the pie crust!

I don't know if it is too traditional, but strawberry rhubarb with crumb topping is my favorite!

The Pumpkin Dutch Apple Pie was a big hit at Thanksgiving last year. (Although for the life of me I can't remember if this was the actual recipe I used and/or if I did the crumb topping).

I hate pumpkin pie with the fire of one thousand suns. I tend to buy or bake strawberry rhubarb, caramel apple crumble, or olallieberry pie.

@junebugmama: My fave is cherry pie! Just the stuff in the can too, doesn't have to be fancy! You can make the top pretty by cutting the top crust into shapes with a cookie cutter!

I actually don't usually like pie since I don't like crust. I would be more into an apple/pear crumble or a pumpkin cheesecake.

@lamariniere: I'm "known" for my cheesecakes, and when I told DH I thought I was doing a pie bar his head almost exploded "No cheesecake!" so it looks like i will be doing one of those too lol

@shinymama: thanks for posting that recipe! just so happens the bakery where that recipe comes from is local for us and they catered my DD's first birthday party last year! I'd love to recreate their salted caramel pie. It's delicious!!!

My favorite is Innkeeper Pie -- it's a pie crust followed by a layer of fudge, then a layer of vanilla cake, topped with nuts. Sooo yummy, and easier than it sounds. https://www.hersheys.com/recipes/recipe-details.aspx?id=3165&name=Innkeeper%20Pie

@StbHisMrs: This could be my dream pie. I usually mix my apple and my pecan at Thanksgiving because I love them both equally. Amazing!
Though don't tell Key Lime, which is my favorite the rest of the year.

Banoffee Pie! It's super easy.
3 bananas
Graham cracker crust
1 container Cool Whip (or equivalent amount whipped cream)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Chocolate bar (garnish - not necessary but fun)
Boil the sweetened condensed milk in the can for two hours, making sure the water level stays above the top of the can. Let it cool
Slice bananas into crust. Open sweetened condensed milk (which is now toffee.) Pour it over bananas and spread evenly. Spread whipped cream over the top. Shave chocolate bar on top.
That's it! Not traditional thanksgiving at all, but very yummy and very easy.
