Those that work outside of the home full time. Have you ever taken your LO to library story hour?
My 22m loves to read and I've never taken her. 
All the story hours at my local libraries are during the week. Because ya know, working parents don't like to foster a love of reading.

@locavore_mama: ours actually has one in Saturday mornings that we have attended but she doesn't get into it too much. She just likes to get her books and leave.

Only while I was on maternity leave. Our library does them on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so it's not possible now that I'm back at work. DH works from home so he's taken her a couple of times.

Our library's regular meeting time is a weekday morning too, but on school vacation weeks they usually have special events on the weekends - something to check out with your library's schedule.

Same issue here ours doesn't have a Saturday option that I know of but am going to double check other nearby libraries!!! I feel like there are a lot of things I can't offer J because I 'miss out' by being at work

@babyjmama: YES! free playtimes are always during the week.
And yeah, I've checked ones up to 30 minutes away and only during weekdays.

A couple of our local libraries have story time especially for WOHPs. It's really nice that they try to suit all schedules.

I'm not a WOHM but the library closest to our house has a Saturday session. We live on the city so there is at least one library who has a session each day of the week (except Sunday). Do you live in a city or close to a city? You might want to check some of the libraries in other neighborhoods.

@rahlyrah: I have. Our library system has one huge calendar for all libraries in the county or you can break it down by branch. I usually search by county. @blackbird:

We have sessions on Saturday, but my son and a library story hour wouldn't be our cup of tea!
We do need to go to the library, just to check out some books, but I've been hibernating, lol.

@locavore_mama: I have heard that the B&N on Rt. 17 has Saturday offerning but I have not had time to check.
I also found that a lot of the libraries in our county only let you attend if you live in the town. Mahwah has library time on Wed. AM with song time after but only if you live in Mahwah. Plus my local library only lets you come if you are over 2. We have a few more months.
Let me know if you find anything because we are in the same boat.

But good call on checking B&N! I have a kid's card and usually get emails on events but I should check on story hour. Although taking her into B&N can prove pricey...she loves that place!

The only time I was able to make story hour with LO was when I WAH. My library doesn't have Sat story hours, which is a real annoyance of mine.

They offer them on Saturdays at our local library, but every Saturday is Hindu themed.
Have you checked out any libraries in nearby cities? The ones near me have exchange programs, and the one in the city about 20 minutes away does LOTS of reading hours. Just not the one < 1 mile from our house

Our library has some evenings (which is busy for us to get to on work days) but they also do Saturday morning. The Saturday ones are for all ages though so I don't know what the expectation is of the kids.

We have only ever gone on Friday's when I'm off in the summer. They blow bubbles at the end and M loves that.

We have never made it to a story hour, they are all geared to WOHP at our library. But our B&N has a story and craft hour every Sat at 10am.. We have been a few times. Actually I forgot that the library has some kind of pajama hour every once in a while at 6:30.. But it's not a great time either ..

The weekend story hour is always during her nap time. Once shes older we will do it.

@locavore_mama: could you ask your library to try one out? I asked ours because DH wanted to take our son but works fulltime; they said they tried one but no one attended. Maybe your librarians would put one on for a trial basis? That stinks

@MrsH: Sigh. My ILs watch her once a week and at the beginning they were like "oh yeah, we're going to take her and do all this stuff. Story hour, etc!". I even found a library near them that has story hour on Wednesday mornings and sent her newsletters to free activities. They usually just go to the mall or stay home and watch TV.

I think it's hard because the libraries went through 2 major budget cuts in recent years. A lot of branches were closed down.

That's disappointing your library doesn't offer Saturday story time. my local one does. Also my local Barnes and noble does Saturday story time so you could check there too. Or maybe even call some local bookstores to ask if they do story time.

Our local library offers a Saturday morning story time. Our B&N offers story times on Saturdays and Sundays along w/one weekday.

Our local library doesn't have story time on the weekends. Sometimes we'll take her to this story/music time drop-in class at a local cafe on the weekends. But LO's nanny takes the girls to story time every week so I don't worry about this or other activities too much.
