@crunchy1: Do you have an appointment with the OB/GYN? I only ask because about the time you are, when I was pregnant with my son I was diagnosed with a s ubchorionic hemorrhage and the only way they found it was an ultrasound. I know how scary and nerve wrecking it all is, I hope that you get super fantastic news in the morning.

Hcg went down by 100. Waiting to hear from the doctor. Not feeling too good about things right now though.

Thanks ladies. I'm kind of numb right now. I really want to go home but I've got a few more hours of work.
The doctor called and basically said to expect a miscarriage. They want me to call them if I have heavy bleeding or cramping over the weekend. They are going to check in with me on Monday.
I might go to an urgent care to get an US tonight just to confirm for my own piece of mind. My hcg went from 80,200 to 80,100. Some sources say hcg levels out at 8-12 weeks and I'm 8 weeks today. I am not hopeful that this is the case but I just want a definitive answer. It might be a terrible idea and very emotionally draining so I'm not sure. I'm not really thinking clearly. I'm going to talk it through with my husband later.
Thanks again for the support. It really does mean a lot.

@crunchy1: I'm surprised they don't have you in for an US. When I had bleeding with LO, I came in right away and they did US to look for a heartbeat. They found one right away, but they think I was pregnant with twins and lost one, hence the bleeding.

@littlek: the doc I've been talking to is my gp. I don't know if they do US but he never mentioned it. I'm going to talk it over with my husband and decide about an urgent care visit tonight. Stuff I'm reading says US is the best way to look at viability after 7 weeks. But I don't think dropping hcg is a good sign...especially on the early end of what should be the peak.

@crunchy1: I am suprised by your OB's response. They should have asked you to come in right away...
ETA: I changed my post after I saw your HCG numbers went down. Hugs and healing thoughts to you-

@crunchy1: I'm sorry that your HCG levels are dropping. If you can get to an urgent care for an U/S, that will be more difinitive and at least prepare you for what may be coming.

Thanks for the positive thoughts.
I left work early. US scheduled in a few hours. I'm not expecting anything different, other than a conclusive answer. They are going to call my doc right after the exam, so I will have the results immediately.

So sorry to hear about your dropping numbers. I hope you can get some answers soon. I know how it feels to be in that limbo of not knowing.

@crunchy1: so glad you are going in!!! At this point in pregnancy, ultrasound is more telling than monitoring HCG.

We got much better news than we were expecting at the US. We saw a baby measuring 8 weeks (right on target) with a heartbeat of 160! My doctor said everything was right where it should be and he was excited about the US results. He was still a little concerned about the lowering hcg. My husband is very happy and optimistic, while I'm still a little cautious.
Thanks for all the positive vibes! I'm hoping its smooth sailing from this point forward.

@crunchy1: so happy to hear that news. It doesn't sound like your GP is that on top of things....
Can you make an apt with an OB? Low progesterone can cause bleeding, and sometimes loss.....I had to have supplements.
I don't want to scare you, but it's worth checking if you haven't already.

Wonderful news! Someone on here, possibly @Beebug: (??) had lowering of hcg and I think it was found to be normal at that time, we just don't usually know about it bc no one is typically still getting betas at that point....
160 is a good strong heartbeat, I'm so happy for you!
I was a bleeder too, and my LO was fine:). I had a Subchorionic Hematoma- very common- and that caused me to spot occasionally. It's possible that you have one of those and that could explain things!
