Unfortunately, DS has discovered light-up shoes. I’ve been avoiding them because I’m pretty picky with his footwear.
Are there any you like that have lightweight/flexible soles so they are good for growing little feet?

My almost 2 year old is OBSESSED with his, he now doesn’t want to wear anything else. I am actually ordering more tonight in the next size up because I found them on zulily. They are Carter’s brand, nothing dance, but seem like good shoes.

“Like” is such a touch word with light up shoes - why are they all so ugly?!?! - but the Sketchers brand is not bad.

We have the girl version of the Carter's sneakers. I got them on sale from Amazon last year. I was really just looking for cheap sneakers. My daughter likes that they happen to light up.

That's a solid no from me E has asked for years, but by now he knows the answer is no. I was actually really disappointed the last time we went to the sketchers store because 50% of their boys inventory was light up shoes.

@Raspberry: I read something recently about a toddler burning his feet from wearing light up shoes - they shorted out when he jumped in a puddle or something. Since then I am scared....

@wrkbrk: I think Adira wrote something about her son's school not allowing light up shoes because of school shootings and it ruined them for me
I had Sketcher light up shoes as a kid. In terms of light-up shoes I think they aren't that bad.

@LBee: yes! I saw her post that and was done. I never really liked them anyway so it was just a final push to avoid.
Also my DD's new preschool doesn't allow them - they said they are too distracting to kids. So make sure they are allowed at school.

@LBee: OMG! This would never have occurred to me. This is just very very sad, the world we live in.

@LBee: but you could also argue that, on the other hand, they make kids safer! Like if they're crossing the street at night and the lighting isn't great... or if you're walking around after dark and they run off, it's easier to see them with the shoes...

I have no issues with light up shoes. I agree with @Mama Bird that it provides safety in the dark. They also have the option to be turned off
