We have the Nuna Pipa and love it for many reasons including the weight. They did come out with a new version that is even lighter but I have not ever compared the two.

Nuna Pipa Lite is supposed to be lightest there is but it’s very expensive. I have the regular pipa which is also marketed as light weight. I like it a lot.
I had the cybex Aton2 with my first and I really liked it. I think gun to head I preferred it over pipa, which I hate admitting because I could have just reused what I had. At least I got the pipa 50% off.

No suggestions for the car seat part because we used our heavy B Safe through 2 kids, but with DD2 I used it basically as a convertible most of the time. I'd sometimes strap her in on the ground and just lift her into the car, but I basically never carried her in the car seat. I wore her constantly because it let me hold DD1's hand in parking lots & stores and keep DD2 away from germy people's hands/faces. So many people told me they never even knew I had the baby with me because she was snuggled in the Solly wrap.
So just another suggestion if you want to try to make the B Safe work. We switched DD2 to an actual convertible at 6-7 months, so we didn't use the infant seat for long.

We had this one the Graco Snugride 30.
I specifically looked for very light carseat, cuz I had to lug it up 3 flights of stairs!
Its a graco, so a little on the cheap side, my main complaint was that DD would get hot and sweaty in it because the material plastic-y and not breathable. But that was summer in Texas, and she never really complained.
We finally just switched out to a convertible carseat, I was still lugging her around at 14 mo in it!

@SweetiePie: we had/have the Cybex Aton II also and I liked it fine even though the sun shade is a piece of crap, but tbh my big complaint about it was heaviness, if that makes you feel better about the Nuna I'm still reusing it for #2.

@LCTBQE: ya know, I think that they are all heavy after the first month or two because no matter what they start out at like 10lbs and then you add a 10+ LB baby and it’s 20+lbs and it will feel heavy. The Cybex is also supposed to be lightweight! When i got it 4 years ago it was supposed to be one of the lightest on the market!
But even the Pipa now is allegedly lightweight and I could barely carry it a full city block (avenue) with my 11lb baby in it.

@SweetiePie: oh, hahaha, now that you say that I think it was part of my intricate reasoning for getting it. it's so funny how people are so much more into the gear and everything the first time, this pregnancy I'm just too tired to deal with it. and no WAY is it possible to carry that thing with baby for a city block. maybe a street block but not an avenue block, my arms would be falling off

Haha, what’s funny is at the airport, the airline agent was putting our b-safe into one of the bags for checking and she said it was one of the lighter ones.

I have the GB Asana and I’ve had mom friends comment on how light it is. It’s very highly rated, but the bummer is no one makes car seat adapters for it and the manufacturer doesn’t make a double stroller, so not sure what we’re going to do stroller-wise when DS2 arrives in a few months. Just something to think about if you need a double stroller with a car seat adapter.

We have a maxi cost mico and it’s pretty light but I’m
Not carrying it around town. I’ve moved both my girls into a convertible by 7/8 months because any infant seat gets super annoying to carry around with a bigger baby.

We just got a graco snug lock. I liked the easy seat belt install and it seems lighter than our old b-safe. I agree though no way I am hauling a baby far in any car seat without a stroller. I think it would be easier to hold the baby and carry the seat empty if you had to! I also switched both to convertible at 7-8m.

Wanted to add with even with the regular Nuna Pipa, I moved DS to a convertible at 7/8 months. Now he was also 9 pounds at birth and grew like crazy. Any seat plus a baby is ridiculous to me to carry around even if the seat is lighter. I always baby wore in stores and plan to do the same this time.
