Yes. He never acted out towards baby but there were a few weeks of tantrums towards me and dad

We had this exact issue. LO never acted out toward the baby but was SO angry with me and DH. We tried a bunch of things, but Janet Lansbury was very helpful--finally, we just let him "feel his feelings"--there was a lot of reflecting his anger back to him during tantrums--"it's okay to be angry. We can see you're really upset. We love you all the time, even when you're angry." It took 2-3 weeks, but then things got better. It was really hard to feel like he was just so mad at us for changing his whole world

Unfortunately, this is soooooo normal! Xander was only 21 months when we brought Logan home, but he definitely started acting out and tantruming and hitting us more. It sucked. Luckily, it seemed to only last about 6 weeks and then things got better.

Yep, we went through the same thing. LO1 was a few days shy of 21 months when we brought LO2 home. The first 3 or so weeks were awful. He didn't act out toward the baby, but he refused to be around me and threw massive tantrums (when before baby, he rarely acted out). It broke my heart and I honestly felt like I had ruined his life. BUT after those 3 weeks, he adjusted and his behavior went back to normal (or close to it). Hugs!! It will get better

Janet lansbury has lots of articles about this. Lots of big feelings...and they take it out on us because we are their safe place. Embrace the feelings and love them through it...it will get better!
