The only time the door is unlocked is when we're outside doing yard work. Otherwise it's LOCKED. Though Hubs doesn't have the same concerns as me. He'd leave the door wide open, even if we weren't here!

I like to keep the doors locked and closed at all times. But my husband like to have the door open, to "let the sun in", when we are home. He's been known to leave the door unlocked overnight and to leave his keys in the front door. I'm of the mindset that even though our area is "safer" than most you never know who's taking trips to these safe areas to prey on those that leave their doors unlocked. Call me paranoid.

All doors are locked regardless if we're home or not. The door to the garage remains unlocked occasionally if we're home, but that's the only one!

Always locked, including the door from the garage to the house. We have a system with push buttons and codes instead of keys, so there's never a reason you've locked yourself out.

Usually locked. We live in a secure condo building that you need a key to get into anyway, but we usually leave the door locked unless we are just running in and out for something-- like getting the mail, something from the car downstairs, or sometimes taking the dog for a walk. But since we need our keys to get back into the building, there isn't much sense in leaving it unlocked.
In our old apartment, we had a private entrance right from the street and we would sometimes leave it unlocked when I took the dog for a walk around the block. It really probably wasn't smart-- we lived in a great neighborhood, but it is still a city street. But sometimes it was nice to not carry my keys!

Our front door has one of those type of locks where it locks when you close it, so yes, always locked if we're out.

Our doors are only locked when we go to bed (or if we're gone for more than 8 hours)... But we are veryyyyyy rural!!

if we're home and its daylight out our front door is usually open and the storm door is closed sometimes we lock that if its windy. Our dog likes to sit and watch the world go by. usually when it gets dark out we close the front door and lock it. But its always locked when we leave the house even if were just going around the corner with the dog. If i'm going to be home alone i keep the doors locked.

It is always locked. Period. I think the locking it while we are home thing came from out old apt that had a crappy latch and if you didn't lock the door, it might open on its own. Now it is just a habit. If we leave even for 2 minutes we lock the door though. No exceptions.

Always locked- I've had someone (a client with an emergency) walk in on Christmas dinner when I lived/worked at a vet clinic, that changed my tune real fast, it scared the heck out of me!

Our door is always locked. We actually use MORE locks when we're home - I don't care as much if someone breaks in while we're gone since it's no threat to us physically and everything we own is insured, but it's kind of scarier to think about it happening when we're home.

During the day our door is unlocked when someone is home and not sleeping or in the shower, but we lock it at night. However, we live in an apartment and the door to the building is always locked, so our place is pretty secure even during the day (there are only 4 units in our building). I grew up in a house that was only locked when we went out of town, but it was much more rural.

We always lock our doors. There are mean, crazy or bored people out there and I dont want to assist them in entering my home

Pretty much never, ever, ever lock. If we're gone for a few days, we *might* lock the front door, but never the back door so the mailman can set packages inside or the neighbor man can bring in the eggs. But we live almost 20 miles out of town, on a little, tiny gravel road, 4 miles off the paved road. If someone actually wants to go to the effort of finding our place and robbing us, well, I guess they're entitled to it and locking the door probably won't get in their way if they're that determined.

Locked, no crime in the neighborhood, but just feel safer. My ex also made sure we have those things on the door to keep ppl from kicking it in, along with an alarm.
Yeah, totally safe suburb, but paranoid.lol
