We live in New England and spend time in Maine and Cape Cod. We are looking for a new place to spend a week, outside of New England. We would like to rent a house close to the beach and a cute town. Our LO will be 1. We are willing to drive or fly.

Charleston? Kaiwah? Amelia Island, FL? Destin? Somewhere near Wilmington, NC? Or you could go all-out and try somewhere in California... In Southern, Newport Beach, San Clemente, Laguna Beach are all cute. In Northern, I would try somewhere like Santa Cruz.

Outer Banks or Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Great family friendly beaches and house rentals.

I have friends in New England who like the Outer Banks a lot for a chance of scenery!

The only issue with OBX is that it is a PITA to get to if you are coming from NE. Otherwise, it's wonderful.

How far do you want to go? We live about 45 minutes from the Outer Banks, and go all the time. It's a fun place to vacation - things to do without being overly touristy. The water is murky, but the beaches are nice! I live right outside of Virginia Beach, and I think it's too touristy.
