DH and I want to take LO on a vacation to Mexico this year (most likely towards the end of the year), but I'm starting to look into resorts now. We'd like to fly into Cancun, so we want somewhere in the Cancun/Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen area. Preferably all-inclusive. Anyone have any recommendations? I've been to Mexcio a few times but have only stayed at adults only resorts.
LO will likely be 15-16 months when we go.

For our honeymoon we stayed at a Karisma hotel (El Dorado Maroma), we loved it so much that we are taking DS to Azul Beach (same company) this spring! We prefer smaller/boutique all inclusive places, sometimes they are pricier than bigger places but we enjoy our privacy.

The only AI I have been to in that area is Dreams Tulum. It is very kid-friendly but I didn't find it very baby-friendly...I think of those as two separate categories.

@lawbee11: oh btw, I highly recommend hiring a private transfer company to get you at the airport. It's only (roughly) $100 round trip and they're waiting for you when you get there and they bring you directly to your hotel (as opposed to waiting for the hotel transfer, which usually sits around until they fill up the van). We stayed at Sun Palace on our honeymoon. It's adults only, but Moon Palace, that @pui: mentioned, is a sister report. We talk about taking the boys there. There are several Palace hotels and you can eat at any of them, so if you get bored of one's restaurants or something, you can head to another for lunch, dinner, etc. Moon Palace is the biggest, I believe, and has a lot of kid activities (not sure what they have for our age of kiddos, though). The gold course there is apparently great...DH and. Brittish guy played through while I drove the cart, drank, and made fun of them.

@Alivoo01: Its not in Cancun but my dh is currently in Cabo for work at the melia cabo real resort and he said there are tons of families! It was really well priced as well.

I've heard great things about the Azul resorts for families. We've stayed at their adults-only chain (El Dorado) and have nothing but good things to say. Family friends stayed at one if the Azul hotels with their toddler and raved about their experience.
ETA: Another vote in favour of USA Transfers!

I am going to EPM (excellence resort) that is adults only, but the hotel next door called Beloved seems to be highly rated and it's for families! It's not in central cancan but it will be nice and quiet! Check it out!

I don't have a resort to recommend but I would say that if you are looking at resorts outside of Cancun to watch how far of a trip it is from airport to resort. We stayed at an awesome resort in the Mayan but it was about 2 hours from airport to resort, and our bus only stopped at 3 other resorts to drop off people on the way to ours.

I went to a Dreams resort for a wedding a few years ago. I think a the time kids stayed free. It was Dreams Riviera Maya-not sure if that site stayed with the Dreams brand, but in general I think the brand is great!

Following because we're also looking for a vacation somewhere warm! I was thinking Club Med in Puerto Vallarta because they have child care for infants and there'd be no time change for us coming from Vancouver, but DH wasn't crazy about going Pacific side.

Chiming in mostly to follow. However, I also have to agree with the Palace resorts. They are amazing. Well priced as well. We went to the Sun Palace a few years ago and it was a dream ( it's adults only.) My sister went to the Moon Palace and raved about it as well. They often have deals where you get a room credit ( depends on how many nights you stay for, we stayed for a week and got $1500 each room. ) You can use the credit for anything... limo transfers, for the spa, photography sessions.. room upgrades, excursions,.. lots of things. Keep an eye out for those deals too

We are planning to go to the Westin in Cancun over MLK weekend. It isn't all inclusive but seems pretty family friendly. We always stay in Starwood hotels bc we have SPG amex points to use

@Alivoo01: We decided to wait until next year. None of the resorts allow kids in the kids' club under 2, and I really would like to be able to spend at least a little time with DH solo, so we're holding off. I am trying to convince my parents to go with us next year, then they can babysit one night!
