I have a 5 year old son who CONSTANTLY talks loud. He can be right next to me and when talking or asking for something, he just talks. so. loud!

I constantly remind him to turn down his volume, but it only works for the next sentence.

I do notice that it's extra loud when my husband is home and trying to talk, also, so it's possible it's an attention thing. But, my husband is only home in the evenings, and my son can be loud during the day. He's an only child, until March, when his little sister will be coming around. I worry that he's going to be crazy loud when she comes, and it'll be hard to tell him to keep it down if she's sleeping.

Any pointers? Has anyone successfully turned down the volume on their child? I end up with headaches sometimes, just from hearing him blab so loud!
