But to the OP's point, no lovey during meals seems totally reasonable!

She uses an A&A blankie as her lovey, and she has one in the crib, one downstairs, one in my bag, and one in the car. She really only uses it when she's sleepy. I wouldn't mind if she wanted to take it with her out, but she's not interested in it once we leave the house. She is too busy exploring & touching EVERYTHING. She is only allowed the paci in the crib.

DD1's lovey is her blanket and we let her have it all the time. It seems to ease her anxiety so it's worth a few extra washes to us. We did keep it on the back of her chair at the table so it wouldn't get too filthy when she was eating.
