I've always been a fan of Samsonite, esp when on sale. Great quality luggage can be had for really good prices. Since it's always checked, I guess it's safer to get a larger one to make sure everything always fits - though there's a weight limit too, so even if you get a larger one, you may not be able to over stuff. As for pockets, I dont usually see anything with pockets, but I use the packing cubes from ebags and they are a packing life changer.

Here's a good deal going on now for hardside luggage spinners not expandable though. I've never expanded my luggage, but spinners is a must for me now.

I got a two piece set from Costco recently. It's made out of polycarbonate so it's light. Oh, it's a spinner, too. I'm happy with it.

I got a luggage set back in high school and I'm still using it! It was a cute black and white pattern. I think I spent $70 at Ross on a checked and a carry-on version. It's lasted me over 15 years. It's still usable but the stitching in the handle has come undone.

I've gotten luggage from Ross for my DH and the quality isn't there anymore. I really lucked out with my first set.

@PurplePumps: I also use the packing cubes from ebags along with the packing envelopes by Eagle Creek. It makes packing so much easier!

To me the 360 degree roll is actually so crucial!

We recently upgraded to real grown-up luggage and went with Eagle Creek. They have a great warranty and are super light. Also, you have to go with a 360 roller. It'll change your travel life.

DH and I bought new luggage last fall. We got 2 samsonite hyperspace spinner carry ons for our 2.5 Week Europe trip. Love them! Very durable and can fit a ton of stuff.

I go the cheap route, I don't care to spend a lot on luggage that gets thrown around by the baggage handlers.

I've had the Ricardo Beverly Hills 360 degree spinner that @bluestriped bee recommended (carry on) for about 5 years and it is wonderfully perfect.
