@hellobeeboston: Definitely did the "thunder chief" one! So did DH. But he's the king of mishearing lyrics. I think his best one is "gimme the beach boys," for "give me the beat boys." (Doobie Brothers "Drift Away") He said he got some weird looks on that one (he never hesitates to sing along, even if he has no idea what the words are, it's adorable), but he never knew why until I called him on it.

This wasn't my mistake, but the other day I was playing salt n peppa 's "push it" while lo was straining to poop (lol I'm a great mom right?? ) and my dad thought they were saying "pussy!" He was horrified. Not that me playing a pooping theme song is much better...

Ok this is REALLY embarrassing and I hope no one takes offense but I thought Beyoncé was saying "black little baby" instead of"black widow baby". I sang it the wrong way forever until DH heard me and corrected me.

I am a master at misinterpreting lyrics...however the one which best springs to mind right now is from Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl, where instead of "this is my shit" my Mum used to think it was "this is my ship"...hearing her say it was soo funny!

mine are pretty random. that kid rock/Sheryl crow pictures song... "it reminded me of Fridays" instead of brighter days. I was always like wtf is up with Fridays???
also I dunno if americans knows Blue Rodeo but there is a song called Bad Timing, which shoulda been my first clue that it was saying "it's just bad timing, that's all" but I thought it said "it's just that time in that song"... it still TOTALLY sounds like it's my version when I hear it!!! -

Am I the only one that has never heard that line as anything but 'long list of ex-lovers' and never had any confusion about it? Lol! I'm kind of obsessed with her though and have listened to all of her songs a million times, so I suppose that helps.

None of my own come to mind right now, but my BIL has some classics. He thought the Ramone's song was "20-20-20-4 hours to go...I want a piece of candy" ["I wanna be sedated"]. And just over Christmas, my husband was playing piano at my mom's house, and BIL asked him if he could play "Meatballs of fire." It was so ridiculous I thought he had to be kidding. Sadly, he was not.
There are definitely songs that I sing along to and I"m like, "I know these can't be the right words..." but I don't know what they are saying and I can't be bothered to look it up. Just can't think of any right now.
