DH took 5 weeks off from work after the baby was born and he goes back in a couple of days. I'm kinda bummed but life must go on...it will be nice to get back into a regular routine.
If your SO took a leave....did you get sad when they went back to work?

Ha. Thought this was a typo! DH has been in school the last 4.5 months so his schedule has been wacko but he has been able to spend a lot of time at home with us. He goes back to work next week with 12 hour shifts so he may not even see DD some days! It's nice having their help!

For our first, Mister only had a few days off, so it was right back to normal, but with our second, he was a stay at home dad for the first 4+ months of her life 
(which was great because I didn't have a maternity leave).

DH will only be taking 2 weeks off, while I will be home the entire summer on leave with DD. I'm sure I will be quite unhappy when he has to return to work!

DH had a week off and even though it wasn't very long I totally got used to having him home with the baby and I. It was hard the first few days!

DH took three weeks off and I was a little happy to get into a routine plus my mom was coming into town.. But after a few weeks I really missed him being home!!

Mine was only home for a week, so more than sad when he returned, I was terrified! I didn't have any family offer to come stay, either, so I was on my own!

Mine took off maybe a half a day for #1 and (almost) a week for #2 (but he worked from home a lot)... so I was just plain irked about his work demands!

Yes, he took 3 weeks off and I was super emotional when it came time for him to go back. Dang hormones, I cried like crazy.

Not really. He took off days here and there and a few one week chunks but when he was home, he did other stuff, like yard work, so it wasn't a huge difference when he went back to work.

Yes! He only had two weeks. I was so nervous being by myself those first couple days with R. Luckily he was home at night to help.
He is currently on the way to the airport. He has to start traveling again every week. While I am grateful he has only been gone one week during the first 11 weeks, I have gotten use to the help. Now I have to get use to solo parenting Mon- Thurs night. Along with adjusting to me back at work and R in day care next week. Going to be rough.

DH took 4 days off ( and we were in the hospital the whole time!) by the tue we got home from the hospital he had to go back to work!

Yes because he only got 6 days off. I'm hoping next time, since he has a different job, he can take at least 10-14 days off.

he only gets a week off after the baby is here. it was sad when he had to go back after DS was born, i'm sure it'll be the same when #2 gets here.

DH took 5 weeks off too. I was bummed went he went back, especially since I was prepared for colic to peak week 6. I ended up rocking my first day alone with LO. We ventured out to return things at BRU and Target, went to the library, I did laundry in our communal laundry room, went grocery shopping and I cooked a leg of lamb for dinner. I guess I needed to just keep busy so I wouldn't think about being alone. Naturally, I haven't had such a productive day since.
DH had a much harder time with the transition. I am "required" to send him a picture of LO every day and he likes at least three. I swear he's extra noisy in the morning to get LO to wake up before he leaves too. I know I'll miss her when I go back to work so I don't give him grief for it.

DH took 2 weeks off for the first and I was very happy he had that time. I think family time is super important after a new family member arrives and the family needs to adjust and recover. I was sad when he went back so I got mastitis so then he was only back for a day and then took the next day off bc I had a 103 fever, tricky way to make him not work. He only took that day but he still left a little early from work/went in late for a week or so after that. For the next one he'll have a month off but some of that time will probably be before LO is born.

We don't have kids yet, but I am always sad when DH has to go back to work after a vacation! I can't imagine what it would be like after paternity leave! 
I hope you enjoy your last few days all together and that the transition with him going back to work goes smoothly!

DH is only able to take a week off (maaaaybe 2 if he begs) when LO gets here, and I'm already terrified of having to do everything myself 0_o
