I'm quite certain all my tests are false positives. I took another this morning from a new box I bought in a different state, and it has the same light line. If it was real it would be darker for sure.

@Kaohinani: I'm sure you have some positive statistics even for such a dramatic drop at that time of the cycle. I'm sorry your BBT didn't behave, but today's temp is still well above cover line and it's too early to loose hope yet. Let's wait and see (easy for me to say, right?) what it does tomorrow morning. I'm going to stay hopeful for you!

@LAZB: @Paranundrum: I'm not holding out much hope with this dramatic of a dip.... If it is an implantation dip, it would be 11/12 dpo which is on the later end but, if not, this is heading to be the shortest LP I have had in years! *sighs*
I, also, did have a terrible night's sleep (kids and hubby are all coughing and I can't tell if it's their allergies or the start of sick), AND we also just received 5k in medical bills (fertility institute, the ER 2x, G's SLP, G's hearing tests, T's visit to the pediatrician ... ) in the last week. #stressed.

@Sams Mom: You’re having such a weird cycle... I hope you finally get your pos OPK or temp shift soon. Bodies are weird... 🤦♀️
@LAZB: I’m so sorry. I was rooting for you.
@Kaohinani: I’m still hopeful for you! My temp went all the way down to my cover line this month, and you’re supplementing progesterone so a short LP would be totally counter-intuitive. 🤞🤞🤞

So... I broke down and tested this morning. I’m only 10 dpo so I didn’t expect much, but it came back positive! It’s a little gray in the photo but it’s real pink in person. Getting a BFP this early makes me feel so much better about our chances. At the very least I’m fairly confident this isn’t another EP. I’m still nervous of another miscarriage, but right now I’m so excited.

@karenbme: Yay! Congrats, hun!!!
(Atleast one of is BFP.) So happy for you!

I wasn’t going to test but now all these FRER pics make me want to test... 🤔

@Kaohinani: Welp - good news is, stark white on both, so trigger is finally out. Bad news is, stark white on both.

@yellowbeach: Okay, so the positive is your trigger is out. It is still early for you to get a BFP so I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

@yellowbeach: Sorry you didn’t get better news this morning, but at least you know the trigger is out. 🤞🤞

A study on how different internal and external factors affect BBT:
http://www.altmedrev.com/publications/12/1/49.pdf
I took melatonin last night (which I haven't in over a year and half), I read a couple articles that state synthetic melatonin (naturally) lowers one's core temperature (affecting BBT). Here is one: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/8836952/
Another one of the articles stated that there is a chance that it is not good for one's ovarian reserve and function (* but I can only assume the study was utilizing daily doses at higher quantities.) Also, "hormonal effects have been reported, including decreases or increases in levels of luteinizing hormone, progesterone, estradiol, thyroid hormone (T4 and T3), growth hormone, prolactin, cortisol, oxytocin, and vasopressin. Gynecomastia (increased breast size) has been reported in men, as well as decreased sperm count (both which resolved with the cessation of melatonin). Decreased sperm motility and decreased libido have been reported in rats and humans."
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/melatonin/NS_patient-melatonin/DSECTION=safety
Perhaps, my huge dip (11 or 12 dpo) was due (in part) to the melatonin? Atleast, I hope it is.

Said in the voice of Chandler Bing, could I *be* any more pregnant? I'm going to wait until my ultrasound next week to jump over to the November board, but I think I'm done peeing on things for now
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Kaohinani: Could be melatonin or any number of other things. Also worth noting that what I read said a temp drop usually happens AFTER implantation, so if it is estradiol/implantation you probably already implanted, and would be implanting at 10 or 11 dpo not 11 or 12.
@Chuckles: Thanks! We’re not in the clear yet, but it’s step one!
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@Chuckles: That HPT looks lovely! You and Karenbeme both have beautiful lines today!
@karenbme: I have read both that a dip occurs during implantation (* due to an E2 surge before P4 rises again with the presence of HCG) AND that it occurs afterwards. I can not find any scholarly data which would afford me some comfort.
pomegranate / 3904 posts
@karenbme: congratulations!
@Chuckles: love when it looks like that!
@Kaohinani: stressed is right! That's a lot of bills at once
@bhbee: I will, I've done it before and they send a check

And just to prove POAS is not an exact science, I present to you my sticks (previously stark white) about 10 min after I showered.

Here's my test for reference. I can't believe in three boxes from different places I've gotten lines on everything.

@karenbme: @Chuckles: so happy!!!!!!!!! I hope so much to join you!!! @karenbme: that’s a great line for 10dpo!
@LAZB: that is so weird.... not that this is better but so you think possible it’s a chemical? Those lines just look so real to me.
Should definitely get a coupon I have done that before too.
@Kaohinani: ugh. I don’t know - I still have hope for you when the temps are so close I always feel like there is so much to affect them.
@yellowbeach: I replied before I saw your second pic! Now we can all obsess over darker/lighter lol.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: Nice lines! I want to congratulate you SOOOOOOOO bad, but IDK, is that a BFP or the rest of the trigger? I can't wait for you to test tomorrow!
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Kaohinani: When I started temping I read that the hormones change during implantation but because you only temp once a day it won’t show up until the next day’s temperature. But I can’t find any research either. So 🤷♀️
@LAZB: Thanks! And I have no idea what’s going on with your lines. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this... Uncertainty in TTC is the worst.
@yellowbeach: Could be leftover trigger? (But I really hope it’s not!)
@fuzzypeaches: Thanks, I know. It’s so reassuring to see a definite line this early after so many weak lines and squinters in the past. And I really hope you get to join us as a November mama!
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@LAZB: I'm not. Will be moving on to month 38. Perhaps, it just is NOT meant to be.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Kaohinani: Sorry, mama. ☹️ But you’re not totally out yet. What’s the sensitivity on OSOMs?
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@karenbme: It is a 20-MIU HCG test. I understand that I should use a FRER (6.3-MIU) but I have one left and just don't see a point in it if my dip was today. I feel so defeated atm.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@Chuckles: @fuzzypeaches: Yeah, it does. I am used to it by now. I had hope this cycle with all of the meds and the TI with ICI ....
Ugh.
persimmon / 1419 posts
@Kaohinani: I totally understand saving your FRER. I bought an extra box yesterday because I knew I’d probably cave this weekend and didn’t want to use my last one without having back ups. But I’m sure I would’ve had a on a 20 miu test, too. I’m still thinking positive that you’ll get good news in the next few days. 🤞🤞
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@bhbee: Thank you.
@karenbme: I hope so, but I highly doubt I will. Thank you for the positivity, though ... I can't be positive and happy-go-lucky ALL of the time.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@LAZB: have your husband take a FRER, if it says he's pregnant too I would A) get a refund from FRER and/or B) sell him to research 🤷♀️
@karenbme: congratulations
@Chuckles: holy crap lady, leave some dye for the control line.
@yellowbeach: hey, you've got time yet!
@Kaohinani: last, but certainly not least. You know damn well if any of us had a dip like that with a tempdrop on a night we used melatonin, with research showing melatonin drops temps you would be telling us to wait and see. TD has 2 days to do something with that temp. You're on progesterone support and don't have short LPs pregnant or not.
I think you need to give it a couple days and see how everything settles from there. I know it sucks a lot. You've been at this crap shoot longer than I, and you have a lot of outside factors going on; but don't give up yet.
Also, I'm naturally coarse and that sounded a little bad. I obviously know it's hard to be positive all of the time, as I've been a Debbie downer for weeks, but I still have hope for this cycle for you
*Pot meet kettle* 🤦♀️

This is the longest it's been from surge to shift, but I think it might be happening.
