I just went to the bathroom and saw some pre-AF spotting.
We didn't even have great timing, and my hopes weren't up all that high, so I don't know why I am tearing up at my desk.
Ugh.
Stupid TOM hormones.

So, I just got paperwork from my RE billing department. Looks like we are going clomid + IUI route. My insurance covers zilch. So, they are giving us the option of $400 a visit or $1,600 total. I'm leaning towards $1,600 all in. I'm getting excited, I'm very hopeful this is what we need to get pregnant!

@Sprite: @Sprite: Thanks, the hugs really do help.
Too bad I gave up junk food and alcohol for lent- those are all my go to feel better items.
DH said he wants to look at strollers this weekend regardless of the outcome (we have to drive way out of our way for something else, and will be near a huge stroller store). He wants to be a dad so badly, I don't know how I am going to tell him.
@littlek: How many treatments would the $1600 cover? I am so glad you are moving forward, and I can't wait til you get your sticky baby!

@littlek: I'm so glad you have a plan, and great job keeping your positive attitude!!
@Crystal: HUGS!! I'm sorry to hear about this.
@Sprite: YESSSSSSSS!!!! Congratulations!! I'm so very happy for you, and as I approach my one year anniversary of TTC, I'm feeling a little better about my future. I can get pregnant, I will get pregnant, it's just going to take the right combination of meds/procedures and it will all be worth it!

@Crystal: I'm sorry.. that is rough
It's $1,600 per cycle. As many monitoring visits as I need.

@littlek: the full 1600 does seem like a good deal for unlimited monitoring.
@sarahnicole218: thanks, friend.
It really is inspiring to see stories like @Sprites. It helps to know it is possible!

@Crystal: oh, I don't think tearing up is silly, it's just all so emotional!

@Boopers: and @Crystal: I'm so very sorry for both on your girls. Now you have a fresh start for another try. That's not much consolation, I know. But hang in there.

@littlek: That's great to have a plan in place. $1,600 is a lot, but not nearly as much as it can be. FX for you. Do you have a timeline?

@MrsMcD: I'm cd5 of my current cycle. We are meeting with RE on 21st to go through specifics. So, this is our last cycle before we move on to medicated cycles.

@littlek: Wow. That's awesome. It sucks you need a medicated cycle. But totally awesome that you have one in place to quickly.
ETA: I'm praying this cycle may be it for you and that you won't need the IUI!

@littlek: you might want to ask when you go what their protocol usually looks like. I've done IUIs with three visits (1 for CD3, 1 for CD11, 1 for IUI) and four (CD11 and had to come back CD13 as well for more monitoring before they picked the trigger date).
if you add in FSH then I would expect more visits and the $1600 plan sounds good. I could also see some peace of mind from just knowing it's covered no matter what.
curious will they cover your meds? clomid is cheap but injectibles not so much
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@bhbee: I think the piece of mind having everything covered. I was talking to my friend and she thinks medication will be another $1,500. We are estimating it to be about $3k a cycle, all in.

Hey girls. I just when to my general family physician today to basically cry about not getting pregnant after 10 months. (My insurance makes me wait 12 months before I see my obgyn for this issue.) My doctor is sending me out for a panel of blood work. One test is the FSH test. I know I've heard a lot of talk about the FSH test. What is the best CD to get it done? My doctor didn't specify.

@MrsMcD: FSH is CD3. Are they only doing FSH? Or are they doing all of the CD3 tests?

@MrsMcD: FYI- I think it's great you are getting testing done. It's nice to feel like you are moving forward.

@littlek: the $1600 option sounds great if you're doing FSH injections. I had to do a baseline u/s + 4 monitoring u/s this cycle, and it adds up quick. Also, check out Freedom Fertility Pharmacy once you know what dosages you'll be at, you can price out the out of pocket costs of the meds. I shopped around and they were the cheapest, but I still spent over $2k on injections. Also, depending on what brand you get, check online if there are rebates. I think we'll get almost $300 back from the gonal-f and trigger rebates.
@MrsMcD: I'm glad you are getting tested, it is a great first step. I second the CD3 for FSH. Hopefully they're ordering the other day 3 tests for you?
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@littlek: Thanks, lady! My doctor ordered quite a few tests. Most notably, I see TSH, FSH progesterone, estradiol, prolactin and DHEAS. She didn't specify any particular cycle day to get the blood work done.

@MrsMcD: If you can, also request CD21 testing, HSG and SA for your husband.

@MrsMcD: Ditto what @littlek: said - my doctor said either CD2 or 3.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
@Sprite: I suppose CD 3 seems best. I think progesterone is tested on a different day, I'll just go with CD3. She's not an obgyn. But I appreciate my family doctor running some tests nonetheless. This will appease me until I go see my obgyn in May.
