@littlek: That's so funny. My husband is oddly not at all concerned about the possibility of multiple babies. Funny guys.

    @littlek: Hugs!

I have a terrible cough and don't feel well, which is making symptom stalking very challenging. AF due Tuesday or Wednesday. I am trying to stay in the frame of mind of back when I was on birth control, that OF COURSE my period would come so I don't get too disappointed.

@littlek: so sorry about AF, but yay for another POAS in March and getting your testing done. definitely have a glass of wine or two tonight.

I am starting to feel excited about this upcoming cycle. I've had zero spotting so far on this past one (I often have a lot) which makes me think even though BFN, the clomid 100mg and/or metformin is doing something to get my hormones in line and I just need more cycles of this. I also have 2 trips this month which will help distract me - most exciting is we are going house-hunting in the 5 days before my POAS. best distraction ever!

@AmeliaBedilia: the last few days are really hard! hang in there!

12DPO and temp still up. It could be related to my cough and crud and the fact that my sleep is restless in the past few days. But- haven't had this long of elevated temps since the cycle my iud came out almost a year ago. My hopes are so up, and this corresponds with my jury duty theory too.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm a believer in your jury duty theory and I'm holding out tons of hope for you this cycle!!

@littlek: I'm sorry about AF, but I'm excited for your testing this cycle!

@mrsmcd: When I told my DH about the increased chance of twins, he said, "Really? That's cool! I mean, it'd be hard, but it'd be fun!"

@bhbee: I am on CD9 of my 100mg cycle and I'm not sure how I"m feeling yet. My last cycle (50mg), did not make me ovulate at all, but I'm hopeful the higher dose will do the trick. I think I'll start taking OPKs tomorrow and hope for the best. I also have a couple of distractions this month, including visiting my best friend this weekend (though I might cut that to only one night if BD is a must per OPKs), and a girls night trip with my mom, sis, and aunts at the end of the month.

@sarahnicole218: I hope this cycle does it for you! Clomid is not fun but hopefully this dose will get you to ovulate. And your trip sounds perfect!

I told DH if we don't get pregnant soon, I'm getting another dog. A female dog. There is too much testosterone in our house.

@littlek: I told DH that getting a puppy would distract me, but he thinks having three pets would make me a crazy lady (I have two amazing cats). He thinks I would regret a puppy, but I told him it would be the best distraction ever! Plus, March 18th will mark one year of trying, I think bringing home a puppy would make that a happy day!

@sarahnicole218: go for it!!! I think DH would buy me a pony if it would keep me from being an emotional mess every month. Last month, he was like "here (hands me CC), go buy shoes... stop crying"...

@littlek: Wow, my DH does NOT like me shopping...I can do a lot of damage when I'm emotional, lol! You're lucky!

@sarahnicole218: mine doesn't either.. But he can't stand to see me cry

@littlek: I know, it's hard. And it's really great that your DH holds you up. Mine does too, I can't complain. I have a gift card for a massage to use that was from him just because I was having a bad week. I never in my life thought TTC would be such an emotional and for us, clinical, process...but it's humbling, and once I am blessed with my first child, it will be that much more special!

BUT!! I still want a puppy!

Update: Just talked to our nurse. All testing has come back normal, including DH's SA. I have my last testing tomorrow morning. We have our last visit March 21 where we discuss treatments and then we need an injections class and we can start our first medicated cycle in April.

@littlek glad to hear your testing came back all clear!!!

I'm feeling off today, almost like a migraine could come on at any moment. I feel sort of hot and dizzy but not feverish. I tested yesterday and it was a BFN. I feel like AF could come at any point but I plan on testing tomorrow morning.

Just curious.. and you don't have to respond... how many people are working with OB/Gyn/RE? How are you liking it?

@Boopers: I'm sorry. What DPO are you? Could still be early

  28. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

I'll start.... I went to my OB after a 17 day cycle. We did CD3 and CD21 tests, all normal. When we hit month 6, I made appt with RE. With RE we are in the process of completing testing. So far, everything has come back normal. April will be our first medicated cycle.

I'm working with my OBGYN for now; I'm planning on doing as much as the diagnostic testing stuff with him as I can. The way I understand my insurance is they only cover testing up until an infertility diagnosis, which means being referred to the RE (I'm not entirely sure if this is accurate - the rep I spoke to didn't seem 100% sure). I like and trust my OBGYN so I'm fine with the situation as it is!

@sarahnicole218: You have a lot of fun things coming up! And I hope you won't need that puppy to keep you happy since you will hopefully have a bfp soon!

@littlek: I told DH if I don't get pregnant in a year then I'm buying a horse. In the meantime, I'd gladly accept a credit card for some shoes. What did you end up buying?

@doxielove: House hunting is the ultimate distraction. I'm sure you are already checking real estate websites. Lucky.

@littlek: WOO HOO!!! Congratulations on all the normal tests! That is *great* news.

I'll answer your question, too, re: working with a doctor. I'm not at the 6+ month point yet, but we started working with my Gyn before we ditched the BCP this time. I have been working with her to control my endo (read: preserve my fertility) since DD was born. When I was ready to go off BCP, she scheduled me for an HSG and we have been in touch every few weeks. IF I get KU soon, she will have me in for a series of early ultrasounds to make sure everything looks good, but if we aren't successful in the next 3-4 months, she will have me start some testing again and will likely send us straight to IVF.

@littlek: The update from the nurse sounds great! I bet your DH is relieved. What sort of medications will you be using for your medicated cycle? Clomid?

  35. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@MrsMcD: I didn't buy anything. I'm still working on the puppy. Not sure what the plan is yet (we talked Timed Intercourse and IUI), we go in the 21st to find out what they say.

@doxielove: That's good! Important to like and trust who you are working with.

@septca: Hopefully you will get BFP and not need IVF. Fingers crossed for getting KU the old fashion way.

I've been with my RE since mid November. Before that I did 5 cycles of clomid with my ob/gyn, as well as day 3 testing (which got me the referral to the RE due to low AMH and borderline high FSH). I MUCH prefer working my my RE, since my ob/gyn was the typical "just throw some clomid at me and hope for the best" and she never volunteered to do any testing other than 21 day progesterone, until I pushed for further testing. I feel a lot more taken care of with my RE, and all in all my attitude about TTC improved a lot once I switched. Having a clear plan of action really gave me something to look forward to and helps get me through the rough times.

@littlek: I'll answer your question about working with doctors....

I'm on cycle 10 of TTC. Before I started TTC, I did see my obgyn for a preconception appointment. I had blood work and a pelvic ultrasound completed. Everything was fine. Like @doxielove:, I plan to stay with my obgyn for as long as I can for insurance purposes and because I actually really like her. I haven't fully explored my insurance coverage but I've maintained my HMO (rather than switching to a PPO) so I generally feel like I'm automatically limited in my choices. I've kept the HMO because I'm overall healthy and never in a million years would have thought I would need to see a specialist of any kind. I will be going back to my obgyn in May to hopefully get some sort of plan in in place. In the meantime, both DH and I will be seeing our general doctors in the upcoming weeks for our annual physicals and I'm hoping maybe they can do some sort of tests or SA or whatever. At least May isn't too far off.

@littlek: that's great everything came back normal!!! How are you feeling?

Not currently working with anyone. We are in cycle 8, June will be a year of trying. Even though we were stalled out a few months due to MC, I am going to initiate testing at that point.

@AmeliaBedilia: @Boopers: FX for you both so hard!

    @littlek: Great news!!

I'm with my normal ob/gyn right now for testing. I'll stay with her until I feel like I need to move on. So far though, I like her approach to things. We still have a lot of outstanding results though so waiting to see about those.

@Sprite: I'm happy to hear you are having a wonderful experience with an RE. I'm currently just with my ob/gyn who specifically works with women with infertility. I feel like she is willing to listen to me and I like her a lot. But right now we are in the "Throw Clomid at it and do a CD21 progesterone test." But I have been tested for a variety of hormone levels, and had the ultrasound to diagnose the PCOS, so I feel confident with her so far. We shall see how this cycle pans out, sometimes I do feel like I know my body better than my docs do.

@littlek: YAY for normal tests! So happy for you!

@Mrsmcd: We got the SA for DH, it's such a quick, easy, and cheap test to just have the peace of mind. According to my doc, his swimmers are "Awesome." Lol. Made him feel a little better about our situation.
