@winniebee: Maybe test right before you leave?

I just wanted to pop in and say that weaning is going better than I could have imagined! We are dropping the bedtime feed right now, and I haven't nursed DD at bedtime since Friday night. She has been totally happy with dinner and a bottle of milk... and has actually been sleeping much better too (???). So yay for me! I am going to give it a few more days and then work on dropping the wake up feed. It would be *awesome* if I could completely wean in time to maybe not have such a long cycle this month (although I have heard that it can take a few months after completely weaning for cycles to get back on track).

@septca: So glad weaning is going well for you!!! I start pump weaning this week too! How old is your LO? Were you just doing two feeds?? Since dropping the night feed, are you totally engorged in the morning (I'm afraid of this)? I really hope this works for getting your cycles back on track!!!

@Adira: She is 13 mo. We weaned down to 2 feeds per day (wake up and bedtime) by 12 months (I stopped pumping at 11.5 months). I was planning to keep those 2 feeds indefinitely, but the affect on TTC changed my mind.

No engorgement issues - in fact, I think I could stop cold turkey with no problems. Once we got down to 2x/day, my supply dwindled pretty incredibly. That is why we dropped the bedtime feed first - I felt like she was barely getting anything anyway. I don't even feel a letdown anymore.

@septca: Thank you for the info! Xander is going to be 12 months this week (OMG, WHAT????) so by the end of March, I plan to be done pumping and down to one nursing session a day. I was HOPING to continue that session indefinitely, but definitely how TTC goes will play a role! If my cycles don't regulate, I'll drop that feed too because I'd rather get pregnant sooner and stop nursing than the other way around! Thank you for sharing your experience. I really hope weaning is the magic trick for you!

@Adira: Good luck! I really struggled with which feed to drop first. I sort of wanted to drop mornings first because I more milk then, so I figured it might have an impact on my cycle sooner... but I was getting sick of feeding DD + giving her a bottle before bed, so that went first. I am a little scared of dropping the morning feed, because it will mean getting my butt in gear to make breakfast immediately.

@septca: I'm nervous about what we'll do when I don't nurse in the morning because currently I'll nurse and then go to work and then Xander gets breakfast at daycare. But maybe he'll still be able to hold out until daycare for breakfast... not sure!

@septca: that is so awesome! My son is just not ready yet but he is doing really well with a more gradual approach so we shall see.

@Adira: can you just offer cows milk in the morning?

  10. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@MrsMccarthy: That's a good idea (although it'll be hemp milk once I wean - Xander's allergic to dairy)!! He'll probably just need a little something to tie him over until he gets breakfast at daycare!

So i hope i'm not screwed. I am leaving for my trip on the morning of CD8and coming back the night of CD10. DH leaves for HIS trip CD14. Do we BD on CD7 and then every day until he leaves? If i remember correctly from the last time i did OPKs, i got a positive around CD 11.

  13. Freckles

    honeydew / 7444 posts

@septca: That's great! Weaning is such a hard journey!! It definitely has more of an emotional than physical toll.

  14. MrsMccarthy

    honeydew / 7295 posts

@Freckles: I would start around CD 9 or 10 and if you can do everyday till he leaves or every other day until you get a positive OPK then every day you can before he leaves. It sounds promising for you to catch O.

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Freckles: Yes! BD CD 7 and if you can, the night you come back on CD 10 and every day (or every other day) until he leaves! That should cover your bases I think.

@Freckles: if possible, id say try to get a quick one in on the morning of cd8 before you leave, just to try getting a few hours closer to O. Otherwise, BD from cd10 until he leaves also sounds like it will give you a fair shot unless you O late

    honeydew / 7444 posts

@anyajenkins: my flight is at 6:30am so I don't know if he would be down with bd at 3am!!

@MrsMccarthy: I am going to be gone on cd 9 and 10!! I swear I may have a nervous breakdown if I get a positive opk on my trip!!

@Adira: I may even wake him up when I get home on the Sunday!

  18. Adira

@Freckles: Do it!! I've never been into morning sex, but we did it the cycle I got my BFP!

@Freckles: Seems like you'll be fine if you BD a lot between your trips! It will be tiring but worth it! We need to start a BD accountability thread lol. I said to myself this cycle we must BD EOD between like CD12 till when OPKs says we can stop lol

  24. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@mfa_lady: DH is getting his SA done this week so I've been reading WAY too much about sperm.

  25. mfa_lady

    pomegranate / 3921 posts

@littlek: I feel you on that. I have been hiding all of my TTC reading from DH because the amount of Google searches I do about sperm and CM and BD and symptoms (etc, etc) are really starting to worry him.

ETA: Hope the SA has great results!

@littlek: I've read the same thing and also to switch it up to morning afternoon or night.

  27. Freckles

@snowjewelz:@mfa_lady: We should start an app called BDpact.

  28. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@winniebee: I honestly wonder if this is part of our problem.. DH is super stressed with his job and he definitely takes home his stress.

    olive / 65 posts

@snowjewelz: yeah I used the opks for the first time last cycle, that's when he got too stressed.

What time of the day is better to BD? We have always BD before bed...but to us that would be about 2 am because of our work schedule. Should we be changing it up?

Good luck ladies!! I am waiting to join you all but I took B Complex this cycle and my normal 26 day cycle has turned into 36 days and counting and no, I am not pregnant. I normally have a really short luteal phase and the B Complex worked a little too well.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@littlek: Damn, I hope that's not true (or doesn't matter too much) because Hubs and I NEVER have morning sex!

@littlek: how about some afternoon delight on the weekends??

@winniebee: @littlek: LOL!! I totally agree, and wish there was a high 5 emoticon right now.

    nectarine / 2784 posts

@Freckles: @snowjewelz: did you ever have reading challenges in grade school that involved certain rewards for the amount of books you read in a month? We need an adult version of this for bd accountability- oooh or BD Bingo! Get a certain number of squares on your cycle calendar and give yourself a prize!

  37. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

@anyajenkins: Haha yes we should do that! I feel like I'd still loose b/c our drives really just aren't that high! It would be fun to see how motivated we can get besides to get KU haha
