where are you guys having the most luck finding cute, affordable maternity clothes? I've checked out a few places, but so far nothing!

you can see my favorite maternity clothing shops here:

i was lucky to get by with virtually no maternity clothes because i wore dresses most of the time. what type of clothes are you looking for? work, casual, dressy?
persimmon / 1134 posts
Just casual mostly. I wear scrubs for work, so hopefully I'll get by with what I have already. Just looking for normal, everyday wear. Ya know, for when I'm actually not in pjs

I have found a bunch of people in my area selling their maternity clothes on Craigslist. There are a bunch who sell them during yard sales, as well. A lot of the CL posts I have seen even have dates and specifics like "only used for one pregnancy" or "Fall and Winter clothes," stuff like that.
Did you all know that Loft has a maternity line online now? I'm so scouting CL for their stuff. Too darn expensive to buy for just 6 or 7 months!!

Have you heard about Just Between Friends consignment? http://www.jbfsale.com/default.cfm
Is there one near you? When I get pregnant, that's where I'm going to get most of my maternity wear since I don't want to wear full priced materinity wear.

I'm from a small town i Indiana, so unfortunately I've never heard of Just Between Friends or Loft. But I'll be checking around online to see if they're nearby. Thanks for the suggestions!

Loft used to be Ann Taylor Loft and is my absolute favorite place to buy regular clothes. We dont' ahvea Just Between Friends near me either, @jennylynn.

I didn't buy many actual maternity clothes because I didn't like them. I did buy maternity leggings and then one size bigger long tops/sweaters to go over. But if you want actual maternity clothes, Gap and Old Navy are not too expensive and they have sales all the time.

I had a bunch of tunic-y shirts from thrift stortes that I've been able to fit into so far {22 wks}, a gf let me borrow a bunch of stuff that she had, I found a few really great items at a community-wide garage sale that I went to recently, & my mom & gma bought me a few things when they found out I was pregnant {motherhood maternity - cheap, but not great quality}. I'm hoping what I have will get me through the entire pregnancy as I'd prefer not to have to buy anything else. Except bras. I think I'll probably end up needing more of those.

I need tips for maternity SUITS - ugh, yes. They are awful. And I need some for work.

I had actually went to the goodwill, wears like new and other consignment places. I bought a few clothes at motherhood maternity if they were on sale. I couldnt afford a bunch of brand new clothes to only wear a few months. Plus i needed dressy clothes for work, so that got expensive quick. Check out your local consignment stores.

@winniebee - I did a lot of shopping on Asos.com for suit like clothing. A lot of shift dresses with blazers. I mostly wore non-maternity blazers unbuttoned, but Asos did have some maternity blazers and dress pants
I also got dress pants from Rosie Pope Maternity

it could be bloating that might go away. I didnt have any until way further on, but a lot of my friends had bad bloating that disappeared around weeks 12-15. If not though another thing I did for the werd transitional phase was buy suit pants in a larger size (like 2 sizes up) to fit my waist and have the legs tailored down. Good thing about Asos is they tend to carry the maternity pants with a side panel so you can still wear tucked in shirts.

these pants for example
you can still tuck a shirt in bc they dont have the huge panel

I spent as little as possible and bought as few items as possible so I wouldn't have any guilt getting rid of them. I was lucky that I could wear jeans to work, so I wore my 2 pairs of Gap jeans into the ground. I also had a denim pencil skirt, a few dresses and I had to buy a coat, that was fun. I went to TJMaxx and basically found the cheapest, size 2XX coat I could find and wore that. Worked great after my son was born too, I could wear him in his Ergo and put the coat on around that!
I also needed new shoes, I had some crazy bloating in my ankles and feet.

all i know is you guys have WAY MORE maternity clothes option than us in Canada! We don't have Gap / Old Navy Maternity. So its tough.

Target! I've gotten to the 31 week mark with 1 pair of maternity capri jeans, 1 pair of full panel jeans, a few t-shirts, and MOST importantly - a long and stretchy maternity tank top or two. These are amazing, since you can layer on your pre-pregnancy clothes on top.

Zappos also carries a some maternity clothes. Who knew?! Worthwhile to mention there's free shipping.

I've been loving Motherhood clothes, I try not to pay full price for anything though. I just got some skinny jean capris on clearance for like $17 that are long enough to be worn with boots and you can't tell they're capris! I love them!

I got a couple casual jeans and pants at H&M for a decent price. They also occasionally have a 20 or 25% coupon floating around on the internet too!

I bought Old Navy maternity pants with the full belly panel off eBay for $3! I would check there for pants. As far as shirts, I just wore a larger size in t-shirts for the most part. If you have a Burlington Coat Factory near you I just found out that they have a ton of stuff on the cheap. Oh, and JC Penney has a bit of good stuff, too.
Oh, I found this post to be REALLY helpful: http://ohapostrophe.blogspot.com/2010/12/week-25.html I have those same skinny jeans and the striped shirt, they were my most favorite things to wear and next time around I'll probably get a couple more shirts like that.

Haha, that's the maternity uniform! Those Gap shirts are awesome...I still use mine 10 months post partum as pajama tops.

I was lucky to get a lot of hand-me-downs from my neighbor but when I did buy, it was from craigslist, target, burlington coat factory, and motherhood maternity.

I didn't buy many maternity clothes. Instead I lived in empire waist dresses and leggings. So comfortable!
