I'm trying to plan my school year wardrobe and was wondering, did you wear maternity clothes earlier in your second pregnancy than your first, or about the same? I can't decide if I should buy a bunch of regular fall/winter clothes, or if I should just buy a few and wait to see if I have to invest in winter maternity clothes.

I didn't need any maternity clothes until I was 22 weeks with DD1. With this pregnancy I started wearing maternity pants at 10-12 weeks! My regular shirts fit until 16-18 weeks , but I had a definite bump much earlier and I needed stretchy pants.

Someone asked my friend if I was pregnant at 8 weeks!
So yeah I needed maternity clothes sooner- though as a mom now I have a lot more stretchy clothes anyway (hello yoga pants and leggings). It was a lot sooner that I needed more room.

I was wearing maternity shirts by 13 weeks and pants around 20 weeks.

Yep, I was in them sooner! It was crazy.

I def started showing earlier with this pregnancy, but I also was just more willing to bring out the maternity clothes sooner bc I already had them (lo's birthday is within 2 months of lo2's edd so seasonally similar ) at 17 weeks now I'm almost totally in maternity clothes with the exception of a few more oversized/flowy tops

I was in them sooner. I think with LO1 it was around 20 wks or so and this time it was 14 wks.

I was in my maternity pants sooner.

Much sooner. Moreso for comfort from bloating, but I was definitely in them during the first trimester.

I wore them sooner but more so because I had them and knew they would be more comfortable than squeezing into the non maternity stuff so long!

Yes, I was in them much sooner. I was exclusively in maternity by 16 weeks this time whereas my first pregnancy I didn't need them until 23 or 24 weeks.

Definitely sooner. Even though I am apparently "measuring on track", I feel like I look at least 4 weeks ahead of where I was last time. I did start 5-10 pounds heavier though, so that obviously changes things too.

I was definitely in maternity clothes sooner with my second than my first but later with my third than my second.

@MrsKoala: This was my experience too. Although, by the time my second came along I was WAH, so I didn't really need to buy dressier work clothes. I just bought a few pieces as needed to round out my wardrobe.

Thanks bees, I will probably try and hold out on buying normal clothes and just purchase maternity clothes in a few weeks (most of my maternity wear from last time in so worn out!).

Oh for sure. And I know b/c I'm pregnant this time only a month later than last time! I was showing so much sooner!

I didn't start until later, it wasn't really a size thing. With LO1 any waist band drove me crazy from day one. With LO2 is wasn't such a big deal until a little later. Also, I just had things already so that was helpful, maybe I just paid less attention to the transition. There are more "non maternity" things I have continued to wear this time, but that's because a lot of my summer clothing is WAY more accommodating.
