Well, do you want maternity photos, or family photos? That is, what are you hoping to get out of these shots?

Well, my husband took my maternity photos, so he's not in any of them, except a few at the end, where he set up his tripod and used the timer.

I honestly never thought to include my husband, is that weird?

I can definitely see myself in this position-- DH isn't so into the whole photo thing either.
How would you feel about solo maternity photos, but them family newborn photos? I think personally I'd rather have photos with DH and the baby and me, than DH and me with my (future hypothetical) belly. If it will be an effort to convince him, I'd save it for that. I guess in some ways, it does seem like the maternity part is still a little more YOU than WE, you know?
Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who couldn't convince her fiance to do engagement pictures even if they were free, so... choose your battles

@highwire: yeah, I don't know if there is a protocol. All I can tell you is when my husband isn't interested in doing something, there is no way I can get him to do it. If he does cave, he makes the entire experience very unpleasant. It's been great training for being a parent!

You could just take them like couples photos, with just a few that are the standard maternity shots.

I did mine by myself for the same reason and was more than happy with them.

I am in the same situation with my DH. He is so totally not into it. His main reason is he doesn't think its worth spending money on. But i know he will be annoyed at having to attend the session at all. The thing is, he was like this about our TTD photos and he ended up having more fun than i did taking them! I am sure maternity photos will not be as "fun" as playing in the ocean and pool in Jamaica like our TTD, but i also don't think it will be as painful for him as he thinks it will be based on his reaction to the TTD photos.

And since i have learned that he is truly against those anne geddes type of newborn photos more than anything - so i decided that is where he will win the battle. We won't do early newborn photos, but wait until our baby is maybe 6-7 months old and get regular family pics done - which will be the first time i think he willingly agrees that the photos are worth the money! For maternity, i think have him convinced because he knows i really want to do them and i already promised not to do them with our second pregnancy (which i would never think to do anyway, but have seen a few friends on facebook do with their second pregnancy).

So to answer your question, i AM dragging DH along, partly because I have compromised on other things, and at the end of the day, the whole thing will take an hour, so he will get over it...AND i know he won't actually hate it as much as he thinks he will.

I always assumed mine would be me alone... I don't know why. Hubby hates photos and it's something I want and he could do without.

This was my maternity shoot inspiration and it didn't involve her husband. Some of my favorite shots were actually of just me. But DH was in a handful of them as well.
