Not TTC until spring but I ran down a list of girl names with DH and he actually really liked Violet. I would love to do the middle name Louise to honor my grandmother but our last name also ends in "l" and I think it might sound weird. Anyway, what middle names would you suggest for Violet? Do you think Violet Louise sounds good? (That would be Violet Louise L________. I would like to avoid a floral middle name.

Other options for middle name could be Grace, Mae/May, Ann/Anne. I tend to lean towards one syllable middle names.

My first thought was Violet Amelia. Not sure why.
But, I think if you love Louise and it has a special meaning, I would go for it! We don't typically use all three names a lot in day to day life so i don't think the alliteration is a big issue.

My DD's initials are RKK so VLL wouldn't bother me.

My preference is for a one-syllable middle name to follow a three-syllable first name:
Violet Jane/James
Violet June
Violet Claire
Violet Rose (double flower)
Violet Grace
Violet Anne -
A person's full name is said so infrequently I think choosing a middle name that is meaningful is way more important than the perfect name flow. That being said, both my children have middle names that start with the same letter as our last name (and are both meaningful family names as well). Excuse my Southerness but I actually love it because the monogram is the same whether you do first middle last or first last middle so you can't mess it up

My first thought was Violet Grace - I like the single syllable with the longer first name. That being said I wouldn't worry at all about the middle and last name both starting with L, if Louise is meaningful to you then go with it!

I love family names as middle names, so my vote is for Louise. I don't think it will sound weird with an L last name at all.

@Coral: Louise is what I thought of before I even clicked on your thread! re double initial, it wouldn't even occur to me that this is a problem. A double L would probably sound really musical and nice?

@LCTBQE: To be honest, it's not really the repeated l sound but our last name is a harsh Germanic name that makes everything sound blah. Just for reference....Violet Louise Lumber ( not it of course but its two harsh syllables)

If I had a third and it was a girl, we would name her Violet Avery. But I also like Violet Louise!

My first thought was also Violet Mae as many others suggested. I like Jo, Marie, Lynn, and I really like Louise as well!
I think Violet Louise is beautiful and I wouldn't worry about the L middle name and L last name.
