We are flying with LO for the first time this week. I know they allow breastmilk/formula in quantities larger than 3oz, but does anyone know about whole milk? I'd be terrified to fly with him without milk backup!

I flew domestic (in the US) with about 40 oz BM (returning from a business trip) without any problems. I don't know that they would allow whole milk because you can probably buy that in the terminal post-security.
ETA: Have you checked the FAA website?

My guess would be that you probably can't go through security with milk, but you could probably buy some once you were through!

I've travelled with it, in sealed containers, similar to juice boxes. On our last domestic flight, I carried on 4 8oz packages.

@MsLipGloss: I did check, but it only mentions "baby formula and food, and breastmilk." I guess it's worth a shot and we can always dump it if forced to. I'm just not sure what the availability of organic whole milk will be in the terminal.

@SeptMomma12: I flew in July with LO and was able to bring whole milk through. They inspected it the same as they would breast milk or formula.
We carried it in LO's 8oz. straw cup.

I think Starbucks might give milk free! If not I'm sure you can buy it.

I did not carry on straw cups because I was afraid I'd have to throw them away...!! Even empty, to fill after security, since they're liquid containers. Really regretted this during the flight! Flew again later and had no problems... I think as long as you've got young kids with you, they can test the contents of a sippy cup.

@SeptMomma12: Yes. I went through security last month with milk in sippy cups. They didn't even blink an eye at it.

I think it's OK to bring it onboard, regardless of whether or not it's available for purchase in the terminal. When I flew with my FF 11-month old, I brought along my own bottled water {multiple bottles!} and it wasn't an issue with TSA.

Baby "food" would include milk. The TSA site says that it's allowable (above the 3 oz.) for what you'll need for the flight. So, I would assume they wouldn't like you bringing a 1/2 gallon of milk through, but yes, you can bring milk (what's the difference between breast milk & cow's milk if it's being used as food for your baby).
