My son (nearly 3) had a major daddy preference for about a year. He has recently come around to me again over the last month. It's so refreshing for him to ask me to put him to bed or read to him after a year of fits if I tried! It really hurts as a parent, but I kept telling myself it's just a phase

Definitely mommy, no contest. It really doesn't help that D works second shift hours, so he's pretty much never home before bedtime. Every morning he comes to our bed and asks to cuddle with me...D has asked to cuddle with him, and he flat out denies him "no, mommy!" is a common refrain in our house.

I feel really bad, but I know it's a season that will pass.

Definitely me at the moment but recently it was my husband. My LO now says "no daddy!" "Mommy" when he goes in to comfort him at night. I'm pregnant and due in roughly 6 weeks so I have a feeling that is part of the sudden attachment.

DS has a daddy preference right now because I'm more of the disciplinarian. We had a really bad morning where he wasn't listening to me, and that always amplifies it.

@Amelieisme: You're not alone! Daddy is far more fun than mommy. He gives in far more easily and I'm a lot more strict with things. We're getting better at aligning, but the seed has been planted. He loves his daddy!

DS never really had a preference until recently, and it's team mommy. I think it's because I'm around a lot more and he's also getting sensitive to lil bro's arrival next month!

Both my boys always have a daddy preference but I took my oldest on a 3 day trip with me, and he wanted me with him all the time after that. It was great! We've been back 4 days now and my numbers are back down though.

definitely mommy preference. She had a short lived daddy preference for a month or so and it was glorious. But it reverted back to mommy and hasn't changed ever since.

@Amelieisme: Nope, don't feel bad, you're definitely not the only one! DS turns 2 next week and has been on team daddy since BIRTH. He goes through phases where it doesnt seem as bad, but for the most part, it's always about daddy when he's home. He just prefers men in general, though, he always has. This morning he told me "mama, go over there" when I went to sit next to him and DH.

And my mom is his other favorite. When she's around I'm not even allowed to hold his hand, lol. I'm so used to it, it doesn't even phase me anymore. I'm his main caretaker and I know he loves me, but I definitely get "taken for granted" a lot. I joke that I'm like a piece of furniture in the room that he knows is always around. DH works 50-60 hour work weeks so he clings to him when he's around.

My son has a definite daddy preference. Sometimes it is a bummer, but, like @NurseDMB: I kind of enjoy the break it affords me. For example, daddy is putting him to bed right now which means I get a moment to sit and read my phone!

Well, since mommy is the food source... Definite mommy preference! I am the be-all, end-all for DD. She's only 4 months old though, so I'm pretty sure she'll figure out how awesome her daddy is one day and I'll be missing the mommy preference!

Aaaallllllll mommy. And I feel giant and sore and this needs to stop when baby2 gets here in October.

Mummy. I can't put her down (or avoid it where I can) for a nap/bed, because she will scream and scream as if I am abandoning her. Everyone else, she's all like "peace out" and rolls over and goes to sleep.

Mommy...but that's just because he's three weeks old and I am the one with the boobs.

DS is all about daddy right now... which is expected since my day revolves around nursing DS2!
