We're fairly certain our newborn has reflux. He spits up all the time, sometimes vomiting up his full feed. It will shoot out of his mouth and come out of his nose, it's so scary to watch. He also arches his back when he eats, grunts and strains and is very fussy. Doing diaper changes is a nightmare because when I put him flat on his back, he often will spit up and choke and I have to lift him up while dealing with the mess of the change.
Our doc has said that many babies grow out of it on their own so there's not necessarily anything to do/change besides what we're already doing (burping, feeding upright, etc.) but she said there are a variety of things we can try if we want: Good Start formula, probiotic drops, antacid medication, new bottles. I don't want to spend a ton of money trying everything especially if it might pass on its own... don't want to be stuck with some expensive formula that isn't actually doing anything, or have him on meds if it's not needed. But that being said, I also REALLY want relief.. for him, and me!
For those of you who have/had reflux babies, what did you find worked best? Or did it pass on its own as the baby's system matured? It's been really frustrating and I am totally exhausted
