38+5 but I was induced so it probably doesn't count I'm really interested to know when I would have gone into labor if I'd been allowed to keep going.

So this is giving me some hope that it will happen in the next 10ish days and maybe I won't have to be induced. I won't lie, I'm kind of glad to see the smallest percentage is for after 40 +4
@travellingbee: Thank you!
@LCTBQE: I'm starting to get a little impatient, can you tell? lol but definitely glad to be in the home stretch!
@Anya: thanks! I'm definitely sharing this with my husband, too, he loves detailed stats

True with both my pregnancies.
However I don't totally believe this because the average gestation for a first time mother is 41+2 or 41+3 (can't remember exactly).

@MrsSCB: my friend IRL just gave birth to her first (over the weekend) at 39+0

@LCTBQE: Want to know whats more amazing, I was born at 39 weeks 1 day too! After my first 2 were born at 39 weeks 1 day my husband basically told me that our 3rd was going to be born that day and the expect labor and birth on that day. I was annoyed in truth and wanted to buck the trend but lo and behold labor started that morning and she arrived 39 weeks 1 day just as planned, apparently I am a clock.

40+4? Ha! I scoff! My labor started at 2am on 41+3, and my son was born at 1am on 41+4.
It was getting stressful because I was reeeeally trying to avoid an induction.

True for DS1, went into labor on 40w3d and he was born 40w4d.
DS2 was completely content at 41w5d and I was induced.

Not true for me my first was later (41+2) my second earlier (38+4). Both were spontaneous labors.

@milano14: Wow! Almost the exact same days as my number one and number two! I've not really known anyone who went that late with number two after not being super late with number one and it oddly makes me feel somewhat better about it haha.

@coopsmama: A mom at daycare was just talking about how her first was 10 days early and her second was a week late! Thats a big spread!

38+4 here. It was a huge surprise - both myself and my OB were sure I'd go past 40 weeks.

I went into labor at 40+4 with my first. I was induced at 41+3 with my second. So much for second babies coming earlier!

@T.H.O.U.: That would be awful! I bet she anticipated going early and than the wait was excruciating for the second birth. At least when you're late once you anticipate it again!

I went into labor the morning of 41+6, my son was born about 12 hours later. I had been going for checks every two days since I was 40 weeks with 0 progress and the next stop was an induction, which I was desperately trying to avoid.

I was induced with my first at 40 weeks, so I probably would have been a couple days late if I went naturally.
I had my second two before the 39 week window, 38+5 and 37+6.

Still pregnant on my due date, so I have four more days to see if this is true for me haha

Two babies and each was outside of that range....
1- 30w5d
2- 40w5d
The wait for the second baby was agonizing..I was certain I would go early again..not as early as 30w5 days but I really did not think I would make it to term!

@MrsSCB: I can't believe it's your due date already! big big FX that you won't need it, but how long will your OB let you go before they'd want to induce you? My office is saying 7-10 days post DD.

40+5 now with my third so this hasn't been true with any of my three!

@LCTBQE: thank you ️

️ Can't say I haven't thought about scheduling an induction for later this weekend if I look favorable though!
(Mostly to avoid my birthday next week.)

@coopsmama: @MrsSCB: I'll put my best witch doctor on the job to get these babies moving

I was sort of induced at 37 + 2 days with my first (after a second placental abruption and learning that I was 3 cm dilated, my doctor stripped the membranes to trigger labor). Went into active labor at 35 + 6 with my second.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@LCTBQE: I know, it's crazy! And my doctor said basically the same time frame. I think I could pretty much request any time after 40 +4. We tentatively scheduled for 41 weeks, but I'm really hoping he comes before then. If we get to 41, I don't know whether I'll end up wanting to wait a few more days or not...
@coopsmama: I hope baby arrives ASAP for you!!

@MrsSCB: That's funny, I had never heard that statistic! I was 40+4! And the timing was right bc I had IUI.
nectarine / 2461 posts
@MrsSCB: same on every single thing you said. I would really like to avoid an induction as I have a friend IRL who just had a failed induction-turned-emergency-cesarian. but I think I'm more afraid of the baby being *huge* as a result of having been in there too long. trying to be zen about the uncertainty and enjoy these last few days.
