We are driving to my parents' home for Christmas. It's a 16-hour drive each way, so we will be spending a few nights on the road. Does anyone have suggestions for motel/hotel chains that provide cribs or playpens for guests? Is this standard practice in most places these days?

I think it's standard practice most places ... I would just call before you book. I would bring your own sheets, though -- some places will just fling sketchy adult sheets at you.

@Katrocap: I think it's standard practice but I would call ahead just to check if you know where you'll be stopping and see if you can reserve a crib/PnP so that you'll have one for sure...if they only have 1-2 and they are being used you might not get one. This happened to my friend...when she checked in all the PnPs were in use

Lots of places you can request one but not actually reserve it -- they are first come first serve.

I would call and reserve/confirm one. But 2 out of 3 places we've stayed had scary looking iron cribs. We ended up buying a PnP and co-cleeping in those situations. Going forward I'll try to bring my own as much as possible.

I work for a Hilton chain all Hamptons, Homewoods and Hilton Garden Inns should have playpens. YOu can't reserve one they are first come first serve but most properties have 3 or 4.

We just stayed at a holiday inn and requested and received a small crib (actual crib but small, not a pack and play).
