DS has always been a little fuss pot (8 weeks today). He is breastfed and a few weeks ago, showed symptoms of reflux so we started him on Zantac. He showed improvement. This past week, he has had green slimy poo, a little bit of a rash on his chest and face and today, the kicker, a small amount of blood in his poo. The pediatrician confirmed what Dr. Google had told me, which is that DS could have a Milk Soy Protein Allergy. I was told to cut out all DAIRY (not necessarily soy/wheat) for the next week to see if he improves.
I just read @ MrsJacks post on MSPA and what you can eat and not eat....and honestly I don't think I could go to those lengths and still be a happy mama. I could cut out straight up dairy for awhile (milk, cheese, ice cream, butter, etc) but again, not sure how long I could last. I feel guilty about feeling this way....but thinking maybe we should just switch to formula IF it is truly MSPA.
ETA: I should mention that we also have had MANY issues breastfeeding and as a result of the fact that my son cut his BF sessions to 5 minutes total (and wasn't getting more than 1.5 oz in that session...) I switched to exclusivley pumping. So, on top of bottle feeding him for 30 mins every 2-3 hours, I also have to pump for 20 minutes every 3 hours. I know it sounds like I'm trying to justify a switch to formula, but just wanted to point out that providing him with breastmilk is somewhat of a hardship already...
Curious, what would you do?
