Not sure if anyone else follows The Challenge or knows Diem's story but I was so sad to see this on twitter today 
In the last few days she tweeted that her doctors have given up but she isn't giving up and she wants to fight to live... which makes it all the more heartbreaking to me. She went through so much in her super short life and always seemed like a genuinely happy, beautiful person. I'm sad for her friends and family

This makes me so sad, I followed her story. One of my best friends lost her mom to breast cancer and after hearing her story felt a connection to her and even named her daughter Diem. She's taking it pretty hard!

@cascademom: ya those tweets break my heart... her attitude and positivity were so impressive. i was looking at some of CT's last tweets and they were all about Diem. and one said something along the lines of "the epitome of grace under fire". and she really was. but the pleas for alternative care and about her doctors giving up...

So sad. This resonates with me because my uncle who just passed couldn't understand why the doctors were giving up. He had fought lung cancer for 4 years and was in almost zero pain when the doctors stopped treatment... and he was at Dana Farber. He's a tough guy with a high pain tolerance (obviously) but the doctors knew that any further treatment would definitely kill him instantly. So incredibly tragic and sad when someone is taken way too soon.

@mrs. wagon: i think that definitely makes it harder when they just can't accept giving up. so sorry to hear about your uncle. my aunt passed away last boxing day and i saw her christmas day... one of the last things she said to me is "i'm completely at peace"... and i think that made her passing so much easier on the whole family. i can't imagine what families must go through when the medical teams have given up and the person fighting isn't ready for that

@loki: thank you... and I'm so sorry for the loss of your aunt as well. I think the most heartbreaking thing was watching him and my aunt as people suggested "miracle" treatments, telling them stories about how people turned it around when they were near death, etc. Obviously hope and positive thinking can only be a good thing, but it was still so tough.

It's always so sad when some dies so young and because of cancer. Cancer sucks!
I do have to admit when I saw her name pop up over the last few weeks, I had no idea who she was and why she was on People.com. Thanks for letting me know she was on MTV. Makes sense now. She did seem so optimistic on her treatment and journey. So sad that she is gone.

@bluestriped bee: ya she was on a few Challenges. and her story was always really prevalent because one of the season (maybe her first?) she had just completed chemo so she had very short hair and wore a hankerchief or wig. her and CT fell in love on it and a lot of it focused on her illness, etc. she was really open about her battle and always so amazing, it seemed. quite a loss!
