Totally had a random thought this afternoon for women who have already given birth. Did you FEEL when you lost your mucus plug or did you only know when you saw it? I never even heard of a mucus plug before HB.

nope and never saw it either. the day before my induction i was checked and saw a little bit of dark brown globs when I wiped a few times so i guess that could have been parts of it??? I'm guessing the rest came out when the doctor broke my water the next day. I hadn't heard of it either!

I lost it towards the end of my labor and didn't feel it all. I only knew I lost it because I saw it in the toilet.

I never saw a full plug, just the bloody show, and i was already in labor at that point.

Interesting! I'd never heard of the "bloody show" before HB either. And since it sounds pretty self-explanatory, I definitely don't want to Google it!

@shopaholic: lol don't google it! Just a lot of bloody, yucky mucus.

@sorrycharlie: LOL! Yeah, I'm usually a compulsive "google-er" and like visuals, but NOT in this case! eeww! lol!

Didnt feel it when I lost it.
I got out of the shower and it was stuck to my inner thigh! It was crazy looking and beautiful.
Everyone else says theirs looked like a huge booger, but mine was long, stringy, and had pinkish/white/cloudy strands running through it. I had dh take a pic but I don't know where that picture went! Sad!
With DS I lost pieces of it throughout my pregnancy.

Didn't feel it but pieces of it came out all day while I was in labor...it was just gross.

Never saw or felt it with my first (I probably lost it after my epidural or in the toilet). With my second, I lost it piece by piece for weeks. It was so gross.

Saw it, but didn't feel it. List it about 2 hours before my water broke. He was born within 10 hours of losing it.

Did not feel it but when I got out of the shower, Dh pointed out to me that it was in the tub. I was convinced I was losing bladder control and it was not my water breaking. Good thing I had an Ob check up first thing the next morning. Crazy thing is that Dh was so certain my water broke and i kept telling him it didn't. you would think I would know my own body.

I was at the doctor's office getting ready to do the urine test at my 40 week checkup and I saw it! I was so excited thinking that labor was starting but when I told my doctor she wasn't impressed. She said that people can tend to lose the mucus plug weeks before birth. And she was right...my daughter ended up being induced at 41w+1 bc she was not coming.

I lost mine (or a huge friggin chunk of mine) at 35 weeks and I didn't feel it come out but I could feel there was something when I wiped, and then of course I saw it on the TP. Mine came out after a cervical check.

I never felt or saw either the mucus plug or the bloody show. I guess it all happened after I got to the hospital.

@chopsuey119: I kind of love you for calling a mucous plug beautiful. lol

It doesn't always come out in one big glob -- I've been slowly losing mine in tiny little pieces over the past week. Wiping is gross these days!
