I never saw anything until I was already in very very early stages of labor- woke up at 39+5 with mild but consistent contractions, went to the bathroom and had what you described for the next couple hours. Had baby about 24 hours later. But again- I was almost 2 days from my due date.

I lost mine - like a giant clump that had to be all or most of it! - at 36 weeks exactly but didn't go into labor until 39+4. Lost the same thing again during labor, so apparently it regenerated? I called my doctor when it happened at 36 weeks just to be sure they weren't concerned, and they weren't. She said it could be hours or it could be weeks.

The first time I lost mine during labor (35w3d), although I had lost pieces of it for a week.
The second time I lost mine on Tuesday (35w6d), had my bloody show on Wednesday (36w), water broke on Friday (36w2d), and she was born on Saturday (36w3d).
Keep in mind, it is normal to lose all or part of your mucus plug, but the mucus plug is much larger than you might think, so unless it is a TON, it probably doesn't mean much.

I lost mine (big hunk of snot-like material) approx. 40 minutes before my first contraction, which was 12 hrs before I gave birth. It was 4 days past my due date, and for me it meant labour was imminent. However, I was also 100% effaced (but not at all dilated) when I showed up at the hospital, so it was slightly unusual.

I started losing mine about 3 weeks before I went into labor. I know it can regenerate so unless you are having a lot of strong contractions or very dilated I imagine it's fine.

My experience is not very helpful, but I started losing my mucus plug at 36w. I lost another big bit of it at 37w3d, went in for a check-up and had to be induced that day because of pre-e.

I lost mine at 36+6 and went into labor that night.
