So my DD's name is Lily (Lillian) and I'm already thinking about future kids and what if we have a girl... I love other flower names! Like Rosie (Rosalie), Violet, Daisy... Would it be totally weird to have 2 girls with floral names?

Didn't Charlotte from Sex and the City do that?? I think her girls were Lily and Rose. I don't think it's a big deal!
I knew a family with 2 girls named Bee (beatrice) and Honey (Honor). I thought that was pretty cute.

I don't think Lily and Violet together are too "flowery"...but I think Rosie and Daisy with and other flower name does draw attention to flowers rather than their beautiful names. Strange theory, I know--but that's what comes to mind!

I could have done two flower names. Just don't pick ones that are trying too hard

@hilsy85: Oh I had no idea about SATC! I never watched it, haha. But good to know someone else did it, even though it's fictional. lol. Funny enough, Rosalie was DD's backup name.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: I think it'd be ok if the real name were Rosalie.

There are some beautiful flower names out there!
Clementine
Flora (that would be so pretty with Lillian!)
Lilac
Dahlia
Poppy
Posey
Hazel (it's a tree, but same idea)
Juniper (a bush, but it still counts)
Violet
Clementine
Magnolia (also a tree)
Willow (tree)
Iris
Ivy
Jasmine...
I think it's a bit much (in my opinion) if you do really "obvious" ones, like Lily and Daisy, but there are so many out there to choose from...

I think Lily and Violet are cute together... like PP's said Daisy not so much though.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: oh I love so many of those! Thank you for the list. I don't think I'd do Lily and Daisy, Rose/Rosie might be too close too. I probably will have to talk DH into another flower name if I find one I really love. He's hoping for a boy anyway, haha. We're not even trying yet! Lol

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Lillian and Rosemary would be pretty, and you could use Rosie as a NN!
nectarine / 2636 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: I really like rosemary and Lillian together too. I'm a nickname person so we'd totally call her rose or Rosie. We're waiting to move to start trying for another. I can't wait! I'm secretly hoping for a girl so she'll have a sister.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: two girls is so fun. I'm pregnant with my third girl! Good luck!

I don't think it's weird but maybe that's because my girls are flower names. My girls are named Violette and Aven (yellow wild mountain flower). We fell in love with the name Violette, wanted another flower name, and yellow is V's favorite color so we decided on Aven.

I like doing theme/matching in some ways, so I think it's super cute!

I like it!
I know someone with two girls, blossom and sparrow and a boy named woodland. not for me, but it works for them!
pomelo / 5469 posts
I'm not sure I would do it. I like the idea of flowery middle names, but think two first names might be a little matchy.

How many kids do you want? Just cause if you want three and have three girls, it mighty be a little odd if you have a Lily, a Rose, and an Edna. But if there are three you like, go for it!

I have a friend who has 3 daughters with flower middle names. Petunia, Magnolia, & Mirabelle. Love!
nectarine / 2636 posts
@jedeve: Lol! I think we are 2 and through. My DH is pretty set on that. For me, it depends on how difficult the kids are, haha! I think I might be ok with 3. But that's definitely something to consider. That's the tough thing about naming themes.
nectarine / 2636 posts
@illumina: Hmm, I do agree that it could be a little matchy. I think that's what my DH thinks about it. It would have to be the exact right name and not too rhyme-ish.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: For a second I thought I missed your pregnancy announcement!

@MamaBehr: haha, no not yet! Although I do have a little baby fever. We need to move into a new house first. I do not want to be moving in first trimester with a young toddler. My sil is having a baby soon so I hope that will help hold me off!
pomegranate / 3275 posts
@abbydabbydoodlebug: Baby fever has hit me!!! And this would be my fourth baby!!!! DH thinks I'm nuts! hahaha Moving while in the first trimester would totally suck. And, for me at least, holding babies only makes my fever stronger hahaha
nectarine / 2636 posts
@MamaBehr: haha! I guess I won't know until I hold her baby! Oh man, that'd be terrible if it made it worse...
pomelo / 5678 posts
I think you should do whatever you want! Some people say names shouldn't match some people say they have to match and the terms as to what that implies are always different so its just blah blah blah do what you want

@abbydabbydoodlebug: I love it! In fact, I always wanted to do that. My daughter's name is Lily (Lillian), too! Violet was another option. But my oldest is a boy and we are done having kids so it's not gonna happen.
persimmon / 1071 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: Dahlia and Juniper are both on our short list, I never even thought about them both being floral names, hehe.
OP, Rose and Lilly are beautiful names! Also, names that I wouldn't bat an eye at.

There are sisters who go to our park and there names are Rosalie and Iris. I thought it was cute, but not in a gross cute way.
