My Husband was a Marine (6 years) turned Army National Guard member (4 years). He reenlisted last year, against my better judgement 
and after promising me there wouldn't be a chance of him deploying he received his overseas orders this past weekend, he leaves May of this year and comes home June of 2015. It's starting to set in, he's going to miss so much, our daughters 3rd birthday, babies 1st birthday, Holidays...
I am not looking forward to this next year at all.

Hugs, hon. DH tried to reenlist shortly before DS was born and in some ways I am thankful that they didn't have an opening in his preferred MOS. We met shortly after his last deployment so I've never had to go through one and I don't know how you women do it. Hopefully you can find some strength and support here to get you through this next year. I'll be sending lots and lots of love your way!

That is a really long deployment, I thought they were cutting them down to under 12 months. As an ex military family, I 100% feel for you.

This breaks my heart. Thank you for your husbands sacrifice. I wish it didn't have to be this way.

@petunia354: That's when my husband reenlisted, or made the decision actually, just before DD was born. He did it for the extra retirement, but living in the now is really difficult!!
@locavore_mama: Yeah, he's not going to a very safe place, I'm not 100% sure if I'm suppose to say or not ??
@T.H.O.U.: The only good I'm seeing is that he has a great job here, and gets to keep all his benefits, plus they make up for the cut in pay he's taking. Maybe while he's gone I can save enough for a much needed vacation when he comes home He's a big spender!
@blackbird: Honestly I did too. At first they said it was "only" for 7 months, then they increased it. He'll be overseas for 12 months, but in lockdown at the base a month prior to actually shipping off.
I've been here before, but it was with my ex husband, a different branch, and a short tour. Never this long.
