@wonderstruck: I'm so sorry for your loss. My dh's grandmother died last year and we brought dd to the funeral at 20-21 months. She actually saw her great grandma a few days before she died, then at the viewing, and was there for the burial. I don't think she really "got it," which I'm grateful for.
