Has anyone ever enrolled in classes at places like My Little Gym or Gymboree? I'm thinking about enrolling my son but not sure if it's worth the money.

I'm pretty sure you get one free class to see if you like it.

Yep. I think all of the "gyms" offer a free class. Check them out and see which you/your son likes better!

We did gymboree until Lala started walking. At that point she stopped being so interested in the class, so we dropped it. It was also kind of far from our house, so it had to be really value-added for me to want to continue.
I should say that we still sing the songs from there!

@mrs.jacks: Do you sing the "gymbo" songs? LOL. I heard my friend singing it the other day and she said it's from her gymboree classes.

I had assume they were free! Didn't realize you had to pay for them but then why wouldn't you right? Sigh.

@regberadaisy: Man, I wish they were free! At the little gym by my house, it's $250/month!

@banana: It's not my favorite song, but we sing it. Lala is partial to the parachute songs

We did Gymboree for one summer. It was great because during the summer you could go to unlimited classes, including the music classes! We were there at least 3x a week. Nice air conditioned place and everything was padded and safe.

The first visit at both places is free. That's how we figured out which we liked better for her developmental stage

@mrs.wagon: Oh cool! Maybe I should check out Gymboree then and take advantage of the free class. My LO is kind of a loner (he likes to play independently and isn't the happy go lucky music/dancing kind of kid) so I think a class like this would be helpful for him.

@banana: I definitely think it would help!! Wagon Jr. was like that too until just recently. But it was great to just have him play among other kids.
The unlimited classes definitely made it worth it... we also got promotional pricing for the first 3 months, I think a discount of $10 per month. Then we didn't renew in the fall since that would have just been one class a week at the higher price.

I think it would be fun! I have always wanted to take my LO but all the classes are during the week and she goes to daycare.

@andrea: The one by my house has Saturday and Sunday classes at 9:30am! Those are the ones I'm considering. My LO doesn't go to daycare so I figure he needs some sort of socializing. I hope the music and dancing don't turn him off. lol. If he could have it his way, he would just run around and climb stuff all day.

@banana: then Gymboree would be perfect for him! I don't know about other locations, but ours was so great because they weren't strict about the class. The kids could participate in circle time, songs, games, parachute, etc. OR they could just run around. There was no pressure to follow directions or participate. They set up all the equipment in such creative ways (bridges, climbing structures, etc) and change it up every few weeks to keep things fresh. It was perfect for Wagon Jr. when he was becoming an active little boy!

@banana: i always wanted to just have her climb around. the ones by me also have "open gym time" where all they do is climb around so it doesn't involve music and dancing. do they have that?
