SIL and MIL never call DS by name, it's always "my nephew" or "my grandson". Thankfully it's not "my baby" but it's still irritating enough that I ignore their message for a solid day or two when they do it.
I never call SIL's kid "my nephew". I call him by name or say "and how's your little boy doing?" or something similar.
So annoying.

Probably because he's new and I think they'll eventually start using his name! Our parents say both "my baby" and "my grandbaby" and my sisters are about 50/50. Actually, make that sister. One sister who lives out of state has never even brought LO up.

My SIL calls LO, my princess, my baby, my cutie, etc drives me crazy!! Worse is DH doesn't think it is a big deal. Um yeah it is!!

I'm guilty of that. Well, often it's, 'how is my favorite nephew?' I guess it seems more personal-- his name is for everyone to call him, but he is my special nephew and godson. I also use his name a lot but I never really thought about it.
I never do say 'my baby' though-- MY baby is the one in my belly, not my nephew, however much I love him.

I don't know, this wouldn't bother me. He is their nephew/grandson after all. I agree with @googly-eyes that once the newness/novelty wears off they may start calling him by his name more.
I may have a different perspective because my BFF's parents don't seem to care about their (first!) grandchild at all, and it makes me so sad. Now, I try to think about how grateful I am that LO has involved grandparents (even if they sometimes say silly things).

I don't really mind it; I'm flattered when people act super excited about our little one.
However, I kinda hate those "My Aunt rocks!" onesies, given by said aunt/uncle/etc. I don't know why, but it totally annoys me, lol.

I wish i could suggest an easy/gentle way for you to let them know that you're not a huge fan of them using those terms -- i couldn't think of anything off the top of my head, though 
i do agree that they are probably saying it out of love and excitement for your LO, though, and personally i do love it when i hear it from LO's relatives
perhaps they will gradually defer to LO's name as he grows!

I never refer to my nephew as my nephew, I use his name - but it doesn't bother me when others call my DD by niece/granddaughter/etc. after all, she is their niece or granddaughter

I think it's rather cute they are so clearly in love with your LO and it's not "my baby!" Eh, I would let it slide even if I were annoyed. I'd rather have them love LO so much instead of the opposite.

My mum and sisters have done it for both kids, I really see it as a non issue. Clearly he is my son and she is my daughter, but they are my mums grand kids and my sisters niece and nephew.
I love know my kids will grow up feeling so much love from so many different people.
Just because there are other people who love your LO so much, doesn't take away from the fact that you are his mumma!

Well...he IS their grandson/nephew, so I don't really see what the problem is? Personally, I think it's a way for them to acknowledge the special biological relationship they have with him. Like a PP said, anyone in the world can call him by his name, but only family can preface the noun with "my." I call my sister's son "my nephew" or "my favorite nephew" all the time! They're just excited. I think you might be overreacting.

I don't understand what you find so annoying about it. I mean, he IS their nephew/grandson. It seems like you are surrounded by family that care about you and your LO. I don't get why you would be upset about this.

I wouldn't have a problem with this at all. I dislike others calling LO my baby though as the baby is not theirs - he/she will be their grandchild, niece or nephew. I'm sure they'll start using his name eventually...maybe when he begins reacting to it?

I don't mind "my nephew/grandson." He is their nephew/grandson so I don't think it's a big deal. "My baby," on the other hand, is infuriating!

They both ask really specific questions about how I'm taking care of him, like how much he ate, SIL especially. It makes me feel belittled when they make comments like "how much did my nephew eat?" or "are you doing xyz for my nephew?" I just want to scream. He's MY son and I love him very much and OF COURSE I'm ensuring he's properly cared for, including pumping every 3 hours so he gets breastmilk.
I guess it's more that they act like he's theirs and they don't trust me to care for him.
