@char54: OMG, good one! When the whole penny elimination thing started, I had to tell my grade 10s about the dollar and two dollar bill. They were like, "whaaaa?? Oh, Canada.

@Rubies: hahaha! I teach grade 2 and I'm not joking when I say dimes and pennies are critical to my teaching of place value- lol!!
I still remember the 2 dollar bill. 1 dollar bill was before my time though!

Also dial-up internet! I can still hear the sound it used to make while connecting. I used to get so mad when I'd go to use the phone and someone was on the internet, lol.

The original AIM! That was more from when I was a teenager, but still. I remember in high school trying to come up with cool away messages, constantly checking to see who was on, etc. There are so many different ways of messaging people now, but does anyone still use AIM?

Life without DVR. I wasn't taping a show that DS was asking to watch, and it wasn't on at that moment, and he couldn't understand why I couldn't play that show right exactly at that minute.

Gas that costs less than a dollar! I remember the day gas jumped from 98 cents to $1.01... my mom lost it!

@lawbee11: we still have a card catalog where I work.. I work for a historical society and it's used pretty heavily!
Kids won't know about pay phones, VHS tapes, life without cable/Internet, and sadly, writing and sending letters, to name a few things.

Calling doubles on printed photos... my niece has a little play pink camera and was "taking pics" of something... my brother yelled "I got doubles!" and we cracked up b.c she will have NO idea what that even means.
