Any names your husband immediately shot down when you suggested them? My DH is a teacher so this happens often lol
Most recently:
Maxine (wanted to use it for a middle name)
Walker
Vivienne
Noel (boy)

Every freaking name. I remember a few boy and girl names, from before we knew we were having girls: Fallon, Selma, Selah, Silas, Callum, Paige. Pretty much every name I brought up, he immediately vetoed.
I was floored he liked Sloane (DD1) and gave up after he said "no" to everything except Piper or Parker the second time around, so he came up with Adrienne (DD2) and we both liked it.

@erinpye: aw, I love Selah! It was on my long list! I guess I should be happy that we've agreed on most names, though it seems to make the whole process harder since we can't decide between all of them now

@mrschickpea: Selah is so beautiful!!!! DH only said no because he didn't want 2 "S" names and we already had Sloane. You should use it!

@mrschickpea: @erinpye: @erinpye: how do you pronounce selah? Is it a boy or girl name?
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Crystal: @Erinpye: All the Selah's I know are pronounced "Say-lah"!
He vetoed Jeremiah, Oliver, Ashton, Arden, Naomi, Vivian, Avery... and practically every single boy name in the baby name book.

Girl: Cerise, Mirabelle, Veronica, Sherilyn, Audrey, Zelda, Vienna, Serina
Boy: Clive, Clyde, Kyle, Luke, Errol, Rutger

For boys, almost every name I suggested: Jacob, Luke, Drew, Noah, Eli, Micah...
Thankfully, we're having a girl and agree better on girl names.

@mrschickpea: also Vivienne! Apparenrly in French it has a 1950s secretary feel to it, and he couldn't get over that. Too bad though since I still love that name.

He vetoed everything! I wanted Georgia soooo badly because it was my grandma's given name (she went by her middle). He also regularly teased me for suggesting Matilda. I ended up naming my iPad Matilda, haha.
He vetoed all my boy names. He prefers much more classic (boring) boy names. Off the top of my head, he vetoed Theo, Leo, Finn, Gideon, August, Archer, Shepherd. We ended up with Blake, which was certainly a compromise.

All of them. lol He's even now saying that he doesn't really like the name we picked for DD2 even though we've already announced it, that's what DD1 calls her and he has no other suggestions. He likes her middle name though so I'm hoping he uses the next 10 weeks to get over the fact that I'm not changing it unless he gives real input

Norah. I was obsessed with it and he hated it because he said it rhymes with his last name.

@twodoghouse: we have similar naming styles! Alice and August would be our non-negotiable future baby names if my husbands last name didn't end in -is! It's too matchy! I like Hollis too and can't use it
I remind him a lot lol!
Shepard is still on our top 5 list! DH loves it! I'm not going to complain even if I know he loves it because it's the name of one of his favorite video game characters....

Galen for a boy. Can't remember any girl names he immediately shot down.

@lamariniere: see, I'm trying to bring in my French heritage, so im wanting all our kids to have french middle names! I think he would be ok with Vivienne as a middle name so I guess that's something!

@mrschickpea: Our last name didn't work with some of my favorite names too! It sounds like Haze which obviously meant Hazel was out and color names sound funny. DH actually agreed to Violet but we just couldn't do Violet Haze! I'm glad we ended up with Alice though!
@littlebug: I like Galen! Are you a BSG fan, by any chance?
honeydew / 7504 posts
@twodoghouse: Um, I had to look up what BSG stood for, so, no! Ha ha. I found it in a name book and loved it. But he was worried kids would call him "gay" all the time. There are worse things....

@erinpye: I had a coworker named Fallon. I'd never even heard it before I met her, but now I really like it!
honeydew / 7230 posts
@littlebug: Just checking! I knew a girl in college pronounced the same way but spelled Gaylen and her nickname was Gay. Maybe when she was younger she was teased, but buy college no one was using it in a mean pway. I always thought it was pretty!

So many ... but I mostly remember the boys named he hated. Emmett & Henry were two of my favorites.

A lot! From ones I remember, sarabeth, ruby, pearl, Ada, Micah, Caleb....

@erinpye: Just had to say I
both of your girls' names...so beautiful and unique!

Every boy name I suggest....lol. We are team green so we really need to find a boys name we both like in case that's what this LO is! He is super picky or comes up with silly nicknames that he swears all the kids are going to call LO based on the name I suggest.

@littlebug: I also love the name Galen! I know two but they are both girls.
We were on the same page with girl names but DH rejected all my boy names! My top picks were River, Arlo, Leo, August, Dominick, Emmett...we only agreed on one name, and while I love DS's name, it's extremely popular. I was ok with that but if we have another I'd prefer a less common name just for practical purposes!
