Just a phase :). LO's naps (or lack thereof) have brought me many tears... If he's napping, just let him be. I'm convinced being able to nap alone is a development thing just like any other milestone.

Oh, I'll also add, at 10 weeks we started letting her nap on her tummy. It was the first time she had napped by herself. She had ridiculous head control, and I was constantly checking on her, so it wasn't as scary as it seems.

In the early weeks we would rock him until he was drowsy (eyes started to close but would still flutter open) and then slowly transitioned into the crib. Then I would softly stroke his head while he fell asleep. We always had to do a tight swaddle and white noise for naps to be successful. He also took one nap each day in the swing until about 3 months old (I tried to keep it to only one so he wouldn't get too used to it).

My LO was the worst sleeper. He. Did. Not. Nap. He would sometimes doze 20min in my arms, but that was about it. He was also a terrible night sleeper. He finally started to nap in 1-2 hour stretches around 5 months, but I had to nurse him to sleep.

The thing with my son though was that he didn't seem tired. I discussed with our ped and she said that while it was unusual that he didn't nap much, he seemed healthy and happy otherwise, so that was just the way he was. Around 8-9 months, he turned into a champion napper.

For your son, this is probably just a phase, you definitely aren't doing anything wrong. I know how tough it can be to have a baby who won't nap. This too will pass.

Phase! We went through the same thing. Just keep trying the crib and eventually it will click again

@Weagle: we did the same thing for naps. LO would only nap in my arms, but once I started putting her on her tummy around 8 weeks, she napped fine in her crib and actually slept for awhile. She had great head control though and I watched her on the monitor for awhile.

I think it might be a phase. DD had a lot of problems with falling asleep for naps around that time and I had to hold her to sleep in a very specific position then very gingerly place her in her crib in slow-motion so as not to wake her. Sometimes she'd wake and I had to start all over again which is immensely frustrating but it passes. =)

I have the same issue, Mrs. Polish. You are not alone. The only way she sleeps for any length of time during the day is in my arms. How long does phase ,sat as miners going on 6 weeks!!
