So for the past couple of weeks I have been trying to follow a basic eat, wake, sleep schedule with LO who is 6 weeks old. I have been trying for a wake time of about 60 minutes total, but I've been kind of playing with it to see what is optimal. I usually wait for the first yawn and then immediately try to put him down, usually it takes about 10 minutes, depending on how consistent/dedicated I am being with it.

However, what really screws me up with wake times, is what to do when he falls asleep while nursing. Sometimes he stops nursing, and sometimes he continues nursing but his eyes are completely shut and his breathing & sucking is completely rhythmic. I try to keep him awake during nursing generally, but I don't want to fight his natural urges, especially if I feel he's really tired.

Would you count nursing nap as true naps, or nursing time? How does that affect wake time? How does it affect the next nap? If you want to separate nursing and sleeping during the day (with a EWS/EASY routine ), how big of an issue is it if he falls asleep during nursing at least once a day?
