Is there a guide that shows which car seats are narrowest? I want to fit 3 RF seats on one bench. I checked and I don't have overlapping belts. Also, when you install 3 across is there a how to video for that haha? Or can I take t somewhere and they install for me?

You can google or go to Car Seat for the Little FB group, but the most narrow seats are still the Combi Coccoro, the Cleck Foonf/Fflo, and the Radian. The other Diono seats (Ranier) are somewhat narrow, but have the flared part at the head, so it's a little harder to do 3 across.
Some seats also puzzle together, so it kind of depends on your particular car and your particular seats. But if you are starting from scratch with seats and just want the most narrow, those 3 are your best bet.
We have 1 Clek and are planning on another, so that I can sit with the girls in the back on long car rides (same concept as 3 across--my butt needs space, so the kids need narrow seats, haha).

@Anagram: dang, I had 2 combi coccoros but they were crushed to death (small exaggeration) in a car accident. And I couldn't wait for them to ship and had to go with wider ones that were at the store. Dang it!!! And my bum would need a lot more room than between 2 car seats haha!!

Check with your local fire department, ours has installation hours on Saturday mornings. We made an appointment and they set up the car seats for me- for free!

@anonysquire: lol, just watching the morning news, some AAA offices will install carseats too. Ours is having a safety event this weekend.
Thinking back to our new baby class years ago, I think our hospital had events too. Worth a Google! I love our fire department's, they did a great job catching my mistakes and getting the seats in nice and tight.

We purchased the Clek Fllo, knowing it would work 3 across no matter what vehicle we used. We are undecided on 2 or 3 kids at this point, so it makes sense to be flexible. I have an SUV, but DH's car will need to be replaced in a few years.

Diono Radian RXT. We have two of those plus a Chicco Keyfit going 3 across on one bench. Soon we will switch out the Keyfit for another Radian so we will have three RXTs in a row. Fits great!

Yep, Diono's are generally considered to be the narrowest seats but others can work if you don't need them all rear facing and can "puzzle" them in together. Definitely look up a CPST in your area to help with installation and just be aware that not everybody / organisation that offers to instal seats is actually certified to do so!

Just make sure whomever installing at the firehouse/police station is actually a CPST. And they should show you how to install but not actually install the seats for you. You need to be able to do it independently (although given this isn't your first rodeo you probably already know how to install).

@anonysquire: our public health office has CPSTs that will meet you at home to teach you how to install your car seat.

We love our Cleks. I think the Fllo is 16.5" wide and the Foonf is 17". The Radian is 17" as well, but I think it's harder to get a good install from what I've heard. Our children's/women's hospital does an installation checkup with CPSTs periodically, and our sheriff's office does one too.

Ok, CPST, got it!!! Thanks everyone. And yes I was able to install our old car seats and even the ones we rented on vacation by myself, I just have a hard time getting them tight so I make my husband do it.
And I'm not pregnant.
