C and I flew home the first week of December to visit my family. It's a 6 hour time difference between England and St Louis. Going home wasn't too bad. It took about a week for her to adjust and even then, she was just waking up earlier than normal in the morning.
Well, this is night 3 back at home in England and this kid is killing me.
Night 1: We kept her awake until bedtime (our flight landed at 9:30am, she had slept about 5 hours on the plane, about 30 minutes in the airport waiting for our bus and another 1.5 hours on the bus on the way home) We got home at around 3pm, so she didn't take a nap at home. We put her down at 6:30 (normal bedtime) and she woke up screaming at 9:15 and 11:30. Both times, I have her a couple oz in a bottle and she passed right back out. She slept until 10am after the 11:30 wakeup.
Night 2: She took a 2.5 hour nap in the afternoon and went down at 6:30 again. She woke up briefly at 8pm and then again at 9:30. This time, she refused to go back to sleep. I fed her, I turned her white noise machine back on... everything that normally puts her back to sleep. She was awake until 12am and then slept until 10am again.
Night 3 (tonight): The same as yesterday. She woke up around 8:30 and then again at 9:50. I fed her, etc. She, again, refused to go back to sleep. It's just now midnight here and she just barely fell back asleep. I have to wake her up at 8am because we have an appointment in the morning, which is her normal wake-up time.
All 3 nights, I have not gotten her out of her crib. She doesn't really get screamy or upset, but she'll whine a little and talk/babble to herself a bunch. She's not upset, so I've just left her upstairs. I didn't want to wake her up and then have her think it was okay. She's already treating bedtime like a 2nd nap and I didn't want to re-inforce that.
2 questions:
1. When she won't go back to sleep, am I doing the right thing by leaving her upstairs (since she's not upset)?
2. Should I be waking her up in the morning instead of letting her sleep in? I think she may be getting too much sleep. Her sleeping in only allows for 1 nap a day instead of her normal 2.
