Our only 'birth plan' (if it even counts as that) is for my parents to drive us home from the hospital, then leave. DH is then taking two weeks off work so we can spend that time as a new family of 3 and learn how to function together. We also probably won't even allow visitors during this time either.

Am I crazy for wanting to do this? My MIL was recently making comments about how this was a terrible idea and we couldn't possibly survive without help immediately after the baby is born. I kept my mouth shut and unfortunately DH was spacing out and didn't chime in, but in general we are super protective of this plan and sticking to it.

What did you do for the first couple of weeks? Did you have help? Did you do it alone and wish you had help? Am I crazy for wanting alone time as a new family?

ETA: My DH's family is a plane ride away, otherwise we would welcome them with open arms to meet LO earlier AND my MIL is planning on staying with us for a week early on, but we are planning on having her come once the baby is about a month old.
