I always put the mail in my purse and open it at work where I know I will have time to sit down and pay the bill. I keep file folders in my desk there and shred what I don't need to keep. Anything that needs to come home goes back in the purse and eventually ends up where it needs to go.

I pay all bills online. As soon as the bill comes in, I pay it online (or schedule to pay it). That way if I ever wonder if something is paid, I can just look up the transaction history.

This is our solution using some Pottery Barn bins. We each have our own bins for random things, random mail things we both need to look at and then our bills bin which gets cleaned out on a weekly basis.

I pass by it daily and see what is coming up due. It also has a drawer for stamps and the checkbook, which I tend to lose easily.

We have a small thing that just divides mail into two slots, it's not much but if its all in one designated spot, it doesn't get lost.

Great suggestions! We struggle with the same thing! There are only 2-3 bills we actually get in the mail so we kinda look out for those. But then there are other ones that we miss that surprise us. We tried to have a basket to catch it all, but the basket was always filled with junk or just other paper that we needed to keep and file.

Here is my filing resolution:
1. Clean out filing drawer.
2. File things in basket that need to be filed
3. Find/buy a small basket that holds 3-4 pieces of mail that will be obvious when it needs to be paid.
4. Immediately throw out or file anything after it has been taken care of!

When I get the mail I weed out all the junk mail first. Coupons go in a basket in the kitchen or in my purse if I will use them that week. Bills go on top of the keyboard by my husbands computer since he pays them all online. He uses his computer every night pretty much so he'll pay them before doing anything else. Sometimes I tape them to his monitor too as a friendly reminder;)
