Ugh, we have one of those two. I could go on ALL day about her! I don't have to directly deal with her much though, so I just ignore her

@babyjmama: exactly -- I've had jobs I HATED, but when I'd start to feel really negative I would try to remind myself, "at least you HAVE a job." I think some people forget that perspective.

@babyjmama: I had an assistant for a year that was just like this. She made my life miserable and I complained constantly outside of work hours to my roomate, my boyfriend, my friends....who kept telling me I needed to have a sit-down with her.

I am super non-confrontational so even though she was MY assistant, I was afraid. But she got worse and worse until I finally had to do it.

I wrote up bullet points of what I wanted to say ahead of time and then asked her to sit down with me(away from other people) so we could talk and I just politely explained that her attitute was bringing me down, not productive, gave specific examples, gave her examples of what I wanted her to do going forward, etc.

She cried. Like...sobbed. And said no one appreciated her, blah blah. It was EXTREMELY HARD for me to do it, but things DID get a smigeon better. Then she was let go at the end of the year (I kept my boss aprised of the situation).

That was my first year working there and her 15th. But she was the one that was let go.

I promise you, when people are difficult in the workplace, other people notice it too (my boss already knew she was difficult but just didn't want to do anything about it), so you have that on your side.
