So, I'm finally getting to meet my nephew for the first time today, and I'm so excited! He's 12 days old, and I want to bring a little gift with me. I know that he has plenty of clothes and little toys, so I'm not sure what I should get for him. Any suggestions?

books are great - I surprisingly didn't get more than 2 at my shower, so any time someone asked what I wanted for her I answered books!
diapers and wipes are ALWAYS helpful, include a gift receipt in case they want to exchange for size or brand.

Books are great, sleep sheep, white noise machine, glow worm or seahorse, or diapers. The best gifts to receive are often the least fun to give.

@zippylef: I was going to say that! I order A&A blankets from Amazon for ALL my friends now! If I am short on time, I get books, diapers/wipes, or a GC. And something for mama! I like wine or chocolate - my midwife recommended "liebfraumilch" which means "mothers milk" in German and is supposed to help with milk letdown! But would be much appreciated for a mother not EBF too

A CD of relaxing music and a collection of new baby books is always cute! My friend always gives that and it's very sweet

I think from now on and having a baby my gifts will be a&a blankets, a&a blankets, and zip up sleep n plays!

Diapers are always a nice gift, if you are going for practicality. We are book lovers, so a nice book with a message from you would be personal.

Is there something the mom likes to do? Like we always run into dh's aunt and uncle at the pool so they gave us a pool baby floaty thing. I thought that was nice.

thanks for the suggestions everyone! i always do books too, so i love that suggestion. i actually got him books for christmas, so i wanted to do something a little different. i went to target where they're having a huge clearance on baby stuff, and found a bouncy seat on sale. i was originally thinking something smaller, but i can't pass up a good sale! they don't have one & had one on their registry, and since it was really affordable, i went for it!
