Some users like to discuss the news, while others prefer to avoid it.

But since news links are usually sorted into the Media/Tech forums (along with posts about TV shows and movies), you can't really hide news posts without hiding media/tech posts (using our gold "hide specific forum feature", I mean).

So as an experiment, we're going to try out a new News forum:

This is definitely just an experiment. I've been really impressed that for the most part, our community has been civil and avoided personal attacks when discussing most topics. But if these news links end up creating a lot of issues with civility and personal attacks, then we'll reconsider a dedicated News forum.

In the meantime, Gold members can hide any forums you'd rather not see using the "hide specific forum" feature:
